Art Piece Gets Attacked By Tougher Than Nails Chick

Art Piece Gets Attacked By Tougher Than Nails Chick

You see this chick?

Yeah, she's tougher than nails and she ain't gonna take none of this bullshit of having Jesus be mocked by some "artist"
Kathleen Folden of Kalispell, Mont., was heard shouting "How can you desecrate my Lord?"

A woman armed with a crowbar entered the Loveland Museum/Gallery on Wednesday afternoon and destroyed a controversial exhibit that some said shows Jesus Christ engaged in a sex act.

"The Misadventures of Romantic Cannibals," by Stanford University's Enrique Chagoya, has been the subject of a week's worth of protests by those who claim it is blasphemy.

"It's sad and upsetting," Chagoya said Wednesday night by phone from California. "I've never had this kind of violent reaction to my art. Violence doesn't resolve anything."

The suspect was identified by police as 56-year-old Kathleen Folden of Kalispell, Mont. She is in custody on a charge of criminal mischief, a Class 4 felony with a fine of up to $2,000.

Police said the woman entered the museum about 4 p.m. and stood in front of the exhibit. Using a crowbar or similar tool, she broke the plexiglass protecting the image and tore up the artwork. She also cut herself in the process.

Chagoya said the lithograph was one of 30 prints in a limited-edition run.

Police said there were reports of gunfire at the museum, but it turned out the noise was due to the banging of the crowbar against the plexiglass.

(snip)

Loveland City Councilman Daryle Klassen has called the artwork "smut" and initially wanted it removed. But on Wednesday, before the attack at the museum, he said the piece should stay but with a warning of its explicit nature.

"If you go to a XXX-rated movie, at least they have the decency to put a sign out of the theater, letting you know this is what you will see," Klassen said Wednesday. "I'd like to see something like that, a warning, placed at the museum in this case. But so far, that has not happened."

"The Misadventures of Romantic Cannibals" is a 7 1/2-inch-high, 90-inch-wide color lithograph print with a series of folded panels similar to an Aztec codex. The final panel shows what some say appears to be Jesus receiving oral sex.

Chagoya indicated he produced the lithograph as a commentary on revelations of child abuse committed by priests in the Catholic Church.

"My work is about critiquing institutions and politics," he said. "I wasn't trying to portray Christ; it's a collage of cutouts from different books."

I'm not sure if I would become a convicted felon to destroy a lithograph but hey, to each their own.

I have to say, as an artist myself, drawing offensive pictures of Jesus in order to be "provocative" or whatever is genuinely dumb. You mean it's Jesus? In a promiscuous sexual context that contradicts the teachings of the church?! Well then, now I've seen EVERYTHING!

It's really a cliche when you think about it.
"I insult people's cherished religious figures because it's easier than actually saying anything of worth."
-70% of all bad attention whore Artist
Now, I looked high and low for this "offensive" piece of art and let me tell you, it was not easy to find in the least. But eventually I came across one version of it that I could actually see.

I gotta say, the dudes art is ugly as shit. Besides that, it's this white guy with long hair and everyone is assuming it's Jesus.. I don't see any identifying markers and I don't believe Jesus looked like that. Mainly because I don't believe in Jesus.. and he was probably black if he actually was a person who lived in that era.

Besides, if you're going to be provocative and then act like a whinnying piece of shit when someone takes a crowbar to your provocation, why are you even bothering? Not to mention that she took a crowbar to the painting, not the artist. Oh no, someone destroyed my art. Waaaah.

Destroying art is the most powerful artistic statement of them all. Much of contemporary art is about invoking emotions, if art can cause people to become so enraged they seek to destroy, then the artist has succeeded. No matter how fucking ugly that piece of shit CRACKED Magazine it looks like.

If you're aren't trying to get your nation's embassies torched across the Muslim world, then you shouldn't even bother with art, in my honest opinion. Anything less and you're fucking main street Thomas Kinkade bullshit.

Everyone involved in this story is a fucking baby. The artist for the obvious stated above reasons and this lady for seeing this, not liking it and then coming back and having a little temper tantrum on a print of something that she didn't like. If you don't like a piece of art, don't look at it, it's not like it was shoved in her face or anything.

I guess I'm just jealous that I wasn't there in the gallery to watch this Tougher than Nails bitch tear up a print of a picture. I would have been laughing my ass off and would have assumed that this was all a staged performance art piece with very over lining social commentary of our nation at this point in time.

Then again, she may have went after me with the crowbar.. Now off to Art Walk with a mother fucking Crowbar. I'm going to Gordon Freeman up this art shit!

I'm The Mother Fuckin' Wizard of Art

I'm The Mother Fuckin' Wizard Of Art

I'm a fan of the arts. Namely because at one point in time I wanted to be an artist. I can come up with some pretty weird shit, just you look at my wallet and see all the defaced dollar bills that I carry. If you've ever received change at a starbucks or CVS and it had some cartoon or comic book character on it, chances are I drew it. But much like anything in life, things change and I stopped dreaming of being an artist and got a real job.

That doesn't prevent me from looking to other artist who are pushing the boundaries of what the medium should handle and take it to new levels. With that I want to introduce to you some amazing art. Some of which I will have to find a print of and hang it up in my place because they are utterly awesome in every way possible.

His name is David Macdowell and well, he's drawn a lot of great paintings. I don't know what else needs to be said but let's soak in some more of his work, why don't we?

His take on pop culture is spot on and a lot of these that play tribute or insert one form of media into another, but either putting different films into different productions or putting a show/movies characters into a classic painting/portrait is something that can put a smile on my face.

And as any child of the 80's, his take on a lot of old movies like Stand By Me and the Molly Ringwald films of the time really do have that nostalgic appeal while also not pandering to simple... ok, yes, he is pandering to my nostalgic nature here. While I didn't enjoy all her films, she is a red head and well, I have a weakness for them.

Plain and simple, this dude is nuts. Absolutely nuts.

And hilariously awesome. I plan on picking up a print or two to eventually hang up because they're utterly awesome in every possible way.. known to human possibility. If you want to see the rest of his work and potentially buy something from him, I'd highly recommend visiting David Macdowell's Deviant Art website.

And to be topical, here's three more paintings he did that hold some special meaning as today is the release date of a newly remastered edition of The Wizard Of Oz. High def, extra features and crisp sounds.. OH MY! So enjoy some of his takes on the wonderful world of Frank Baum

Yes.. simply amazing piece of works.

All The Presidents Gettin' It On

All The Presidents Gettin' It On

Yesterday I showed you a pretty nice take of all the president's women.. today I go a little more hardcore and show you all the presidents.... GETTIN' IT ON! OOOOOoooh Yeah! This is a pretty strange exhibition as the artist paints herself having sex with all the presidents.

The President fucker right here.

Yes. That's right. She creates scandel by having all of the first men.
In Join Or Die, I paint myself having sex with the Presidents of the United States in chronological order. I am interested in humanizing and demythologizing the Presidents by addressing their public legacies and private lives. The presidency itself is a seemingly immortal and impenetrable institution; by inserting myself in its timeline, I attempt to locate something intimate and mortal. I use this intimacy to subvert authority, but it demands that I make myself vulnerable along with the Presidents. A power lies in rendering these patriarchal figures the possible object of shame, ridicule and desire, but it is a power that is constantly negotiated.

I approach the spectacle of sex and politics with a certain playfulness. It would be easy to let the images slide into territory that's strictly pornographic—the lurid and hardcore, the predictably "controversial." One could also imagine a series preoccupied with wearing its "Fuck the Man" symbolism on its sleeve. But I wish to move beyond these things and make something playful and tender and maybe a little ambiguous, but exuberantly so. This, I feel, is the most humanizing act I can do.
Her statement about it is unbearably pretentious. Then again that's art-speak, man, haven't you ever been to a gallery?

This whole thing is a little suspicious. On the one hand, her pretentious art speak makes sense, but on the other hand this gives her an excuse to draw herself naked and having sex 43 times (44 if she fucks Cleveland twice) and be called edgy and daring for it.

I bet all the other artists who like drawing themselves having sex were bummed they didn't think of it first

And here she is giving head

Since you need to witness this car accident of an art exhibit, here's the Link to the art pieces of her fucking the Presidents

I guess the real question is that if you haven't imagined yourself having sex with all the presidents before now, I don't know what to tell you. You're just not human. At least not patriotic. So far I did a blog on the President's mistresses and now the Presidents themselves. She needs to do the first ladies series next.

I'm really tempted to ask her which president had the biggest wang in her little fantasy world. But that'll just open up a can of worms that I'm not ready tohandle.

Is she pegging Buchanan. I was worried about how she'd handle the gay one but it all worked out in the end. Yes, that was a pun. Hey, if she could get away with bending over and fucking the chef in command, I could do stupid puns. What, are you going to stop me?

How could she treat the Presidents this way. I guess the artist does want to humanize them but I have to question if seeing someone getting pegged or getting it on really does that? It's using their image and just enjoying sex with them. Well, does it seem like enjoyment? I guess that's in the eye of the beholder (D&D reference oooh yeah!) Well it's too late now. The only question is if she'll follow through and finish this series. I have to say, I lost it when i got to John Quincy Adams.

He looks like Jabba the Hutt. Which I'm not sure if it's historically accurate but hey, this Asian wants to take it to the streets, she's gonna have to play hard. Wait, what did that even mean?

Some of these are a little odd though. I'm not even touching the Pegging. I'm a bit surprised and looking forward to what's to come. FDR should totally be getting a lapdance. It'd be awesome if her picture of her with Warren G. Harding was him completely limp with an apologetic facial expression and she's in the foreground like "Whatever."

How could I forget Tricky Dick? Nixon's gonna be funny whatever it is because she has to paint his scowl. It's by law that he has to always have a scowl on his face whenever he's pictured. We call it Nixon's law.

Carter will be so sad, he said that he once cheated on his wife by having thoughts for another woman and it made him feel shitty. This bitch is gonna break his heart. Why would you do that to Jimmy, WHY?!?! I mean, she drew Lincoln without his hat, grant without a liquor bottle, and Jackson without a single firearm. She's not really making them any less human. Though, I guess using items that would have me relating to their image does help the cause.

Why stop at the Presidents anyway? What about the Vice Presidents? Do they get sloppy seconds? I will pay good money if she did a series on Al Gore and Biden. Shit, Biden needs a full 50 painting series himself. His smirk alone could make any girl drip.

I wonder if she did any history on these guys and found out what they'd like sexual and then went from there. Like, does Lincoln really have an enjoyment of getting head? I know he liked Wrestling, but did he really like head? Let's not talk about the pegging but if this isn't just some social commentary on the presidents basic human enjoyment, I'm not sure that this isn't anything more than her fucking some presidents.

Perhaps she's just playing into the whole deep seeded Asian girl fantasy most men have. I can honestly say that I don't give a shit about all that. I'm immune to that Asian ~*^_^*~ Fetish. Maybe it's just that they think they'll have someone to watch anime together and eat Japanese food with. The idea that they're naturally submissive must really get those guys with insecurity issues. Guess what guys, cleaning the cheetos crumbs out of your chest hair is not l'amour!

This kinda makes me wish I had voted for Hillary Clinton, or as all the peeps who know whats up call her, Hilldog. Perhaps she should make a gangbang scene with all the Presidents waiting in line for their turn. I mean, how can you do any president after Obama? Isn't there some sort of saying for that whole thing? Oh, don't act like you're innocent and pure. I don't even need to say it and I'm sure you already know what I'm talking about.

So yes. I end March with the art world marching forth in a political manner. Maybe April will be a little less political and a little more celebratory since it's filled with so many fun dates to look forward to. On to a new age!

Art Is Torture

Art Is Torture

The stigma of the tortured artist has been one that has been around for ages. Vincent lobbed off his ear (for a woman, not a piece) and then there's the idea of the starving artist. Though that has more to do with the fact that we're not paid. I used to be an artist. I stopped when I was tired of top ramen for dinner. Yes, it's selling out. I know. Guess what, everyone does eventually.

Chris Johnson shows us a different example of the whole tortured artist. In that he's using torture in his piece. Ah yes, the art of.... war?

artist is Chris Johnson, lots more here

But if you're not one to wander the halls of any art exhibit, perhaps you should. You'll never know what sort of wonders you'll find and what new view on the world around you that will find you if you don't bother looking.

Here's a couple of samples of various art pieces. See if any of them strike anything to your mind.

We make a lot of trash

SUCK IT, HIPPIES!

Yup. Pretty much amazing right here.

How Meta

Then again, not all art is perfect. With Ash Wednesday giving us the countdown till Easter we have this piece that is simply saying that there will be No Easter Egg Hunt At the White House This Year

(AP) The mayor of Los Alamitos is coming under fire for an e-mail he sent out that depicts the White House lawn planted with watermelons, under the title "No Easter egg hunt this year."

Local businesswoman and city volunteer Keyanus Price, who is black, said Tuesday she received the e-mail from Mayor Dean Grose's personal account on Sunday and wants a public apology.

"I have had plenty of my share of chicken and watermelon and all those kinds of jokes," Price told The Associated Press. "I honestly don't even understand where he was coming from, sending this to me. As a black person receiving something like this from the city-freakin'-mayor - come on."

The Orange County Register first reported the e-mail on its Web site Tuesday night.

Grose confirmed to the AP that he sent the e-mail to Price and said he didn't mean to offend her. He said he was unaware of the racial stereotype that black people like watermelons.

He said he and Price are friends and serve together on a community youth board.

"Bottom line is, we laugh at things and I didn't see this in the same light that she did," Grose told the AP. "I'm sorry. It wasn't sent to offend her personally - or anyone - from the standpoint of the African-American race."

Grose, who became mayor in December, said he sent an apology e-mail to Price and her boss and also left her a voicemail apology.

Regardless, Price said it will be difficult for the two to work together.

"Now I am like - wow, is this really how he feels?" Price said.

Los Alamitos is a 2¼-square-mile Orange County city of around 12,000 people. The mayor is elected by fellow members of the five-seat City
How long is this excuse supposed to work? Am I going to get apologies from racists in the year 2070 saying "Sorry We didn't know Chicken/Watermelons/Blackface was actually racist!" What possible alternate meaning could the picture have? It's either racist or nonsensical.

So you see that ART is indeed Torture. For those who have to create it to those who have to bullshit some excuse as to why they just offended a lot of people. May you never be an artist. It's a tough cross to carry.
