Art Piece Gets Attacked By Tougher Than Nails Chick

Art Piece Gets Attacked By Tougher Than Nails Chick

You see this chick?

Yeah, she's tougher than nails and she ain't gonna take none of this bullshit of having Jesus be mocked by some "artist"
Kathleen Folden of Kalispell, Mont., was heard shouting "How can you desecrate my Lord?"

A woman armed with a crowbar entered the Loveland Museum/Gallery on Wednesday afternoon and destroyed a controversial exhibit that some said shows Jesus Christ engaged in a sex act.

"The Misadventures of Romantic Cannibals," by Stanford University's Enrique Chagoya, has been the subject of a week's worth of protests by those who claim it is blasphemy.

"It's sad and upsetting," Chagoya said Wednesday night by phone from California. "I've never had this kind of violent reaction to my art. Violence doesn't resolve anything."

The suspect was identified by police as 56-year-old Kathleen Folden of Kalispell, Mont. She is in custody on a charge of criminal mischief, a Class 4 felony with a fine of up to $2,000.

Police said the woman entered the museum about 4 p.m. and stood in front of the exhibit. Using a crowbar or similar tool, she broke the plexiglass protecting the image and tore up the artwork. She also cut herself in the process.

Chagoya said the lithograph was one of 30 prints in a limited-edition run.

Police said there were reports of gunfire at the museum, but it turned out the noise was due to the banging of the crowbar against the plexiglass.

(snip)

Loveland City Councilman Daryle Klassen has called the artwork "smut" and initially wanted it removed. But on Wednesday, before the attack at the museum, he said the piece should stay but with a warning of its explicit nature.

"If you go to a XXX-rated movie, at least they have the decency to put a sign out of the theater, letting you know this is what you will see," Klassen said Wednesday. "I'd like to see something like that, a warning, placed at the museum in this case. But so far, that has not happened."

"The Misadventures of Romantic Cannibals" is a 7 1/2-inch-high, 90-inch-wide color lithograph print with a series of folded panels similar to an Aztec codex. The final panel shows what some say appears to be Jesus receiving oral sex.

Chagoya indicated he produced the lithograph as a commentary on revelations of child abuse committed by priests in the Catholic Church.

"My work is about critiquing institutions and politics," he said. "I wasn't trying to portray Christ; it's a collage of cutouts from different books."

I'm not sure if I would become a convicted felon to destroy a lithograph but hey, to each their own.

I have to say, as an artist myself, drawing offensive pictures of Jesus in order to be "provocative" or whatever is genuinely dumb. You mean it's Jesus? In a promiscuous sexual context that contradicts the teachings of the church?! Well then, now I've seen EVERYTHING!

It's really a cliche when you think about it.
"I insult people's cherished religious figures because it's easier than actually saying anything of worth."
-70% of all bad attention whore Artist
Now, I looked high and low for this "offensive" piece of art and let me tell you, it was not easy to find in the least. But eventually I came across one version of it that I could actually see.

I gotta say, the dudes art is ugly as shit. Besides that, it's this white guy with long hair and everyone is assuming it's Jesus.. I don't see any identifying markers and I don't believe Jesus looked like that. Mainly because I don't believe in Jesus.. and he was probably black if he actually was a person who lived in that era.

Besides, if you're going to be provocative and then act like a whinnying piece of shit when someone takes a crowbar to your provocation, why are you even bothering? Not to mention that she took a crowbar to the painting, not the artist. Oh no, someone destroyed my art. Waaaah.

Destroying art is the most powerful artistic statement of them all. Much of contemporary art is about invoking emotions, if art can cause people to become so enraged they seek to destroy, then the artist has succeeded. No matter how fucking ugly that piece of shit CRACKED Magazine it looks like.

If you're aren't trying to get your nation's embassies torched across the Muslim world, then you shouldn't even bother with art, in my honest opinion. Anything less and you're fucking main street Thomas Kinkade bullshit.

Everyone involved in this story is a fucking baby. The artist for the obvious stated above reasons and this lady for seeing this, not liking it and then coming back and having a little temper tantrum on a print of something that she didn't like. If you don't like a piece of art, don't look at it, it's not like it was shoved in her face or anything.

I guess I'm just jealous that I wasn't there in the gallery to watch this Tougher than Nails bitch tear up a print of a picture. I would have been laughing my ass off and would have assumed that this was all a staged performance art piece with very over lining social commentary of our nation at this point in time.

Then again, she may have went after me with the crowbar.. Now off to Art Walk with a mother fucking Crowbar. I'm going to Gordon Freeman up this art shit!

Vincent A-Go Go ; Doctor Who Chat

Vincent Van Go-Go ; Doctor Who Chat

Yesterdays Doctor Who episode was... in a word, amazing. And no, I'm not just saying this because Vincent Van Gogh has a firm place as my favorite impressionist. Considering the last two parter was beyond boring, it was a welcome change. To their credit, it was still not as bad as most of RTD's lame two parters.

Speaking of the devil. If this had been an RTD episode, Rose would have probably kept asking about Vincent's ear and then it would get cut off by the monster and they'd make up a prostitute story about it because Timey-Wimey and all that bullshit. Can you tell that I don't miss ol' Rusty one bit? I applaud Moffat and Curtis for not even mentioning it at all.

I suppose we should get the big question out of the way.. Why the fuck where they saying his name like that? We should turn to the experts on how you exactly say Van Gogh

Now that we got that out of the way, what was up with the BBC running an ad at the end suggesting that if the episode was too much for you, you should call their counseling hot lines? What do you mean 'If I've been effected by this episode, call your BBC counseling help line'? To me, I guess I took the meaning to be a little different;
If any of you have been stalked by invisible alien reptiles, please call the BBC for counselling.
Though somehow I think calling a mental illness helpline and mentioning something like this may only expedite your inevitable sectioning. Why else would you need counsel? Oooh, I know.
If any of you are ginger, please call the BBC for counseling.
No wait. I like gingers. Red heads are my favorite kind of women. Then what could the helpline be open and waiting for calls from?
If you've been kissed by a man with a scraggly beard and it hurt, our operators are standing by to take your call.
In short, it made me laugh really loud the moment the commentator talked about it. I guess it was a good way to 'end' a sad-ish episode, with a laugh.

I'm still curious about one thing.. did I miss the part where it's explained why only Van Gogh could see the monster? I assumed it was because "he saw the world differently than everyone else" or something, but maybe I missed the real explanation. Oh yes, that's right - Low CGI budget.

Then again, there's a theory that Vincent Van Gogh had a form of synesthesia, which caused him to perceive sounds and colors as basically the same thing. In the episode, Vincent even makes mention of it himself when he's talking about the sounds of colors early in the episode. I kept expecting this was going to come up as the explanation in some round-about way, letting him see a creature that could only be heard. But again, it never actually came up. So either I was completely wrong or they decided not to be heavy handed about the explanation.

I mean, it was really clever that they made the monster invisible. At least from a production standpoint. Less budget spent on CGI, less time the audience has to think about how fake it may look, and an additional element of terror besides the initial savings from production cost. The episode wasn't really about the monster any way. Which is one of the reason why I liked it, because it almost seemed like we were heading for another misunderstood creature episode and we just had the Silurians in the boring ass two parter last week.

Then my favorite part was when the Doctor had to wait around for the monster.
"Is this how time passes for everyone else? Really slowly? In the right order?"
I loved how disgusted he sounded at the idea of doing things in the right order as well. This isn't new to Doctor Who. The second doctor also kept mentioning life as a time traveler;
"Think about me when you're living your life one day after another, all in a neat pattern. Think about the homeless traveller in his old police box, his days like crazy paving..."
Okay, so maybe Matt Smith isn't quite so eloquent about it, but the gravitas is still there. Not to mention meeting Gogh. That was some classy stuff. I'm actually not annoyed that they visited a historic character unlike how they handled it in the past. At the very least, this was one of the warranted jerk offs who deserve the praise, like Shakespeare.

I'm no English major and I didn't really focus all that much on English lit, but enthusiasm for Dickens and Agatha Christie in past Doctor Who was extremely comical... and sad. I have to say, I always thought the Doctor meeting Shakespeare should've gone a little more like this;

I leave you with yet another reason why this Doctor Who was extremely entertaining and tugged at my heart strings.
"The way I see it, life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the badness, but vice versa the bad things don't always spoil the good things and make them unimportant."

I'm The Mother Fuckin' Wizard of Art

I'm The Mother Fuckin' Wizard Of Art

I'm a fan of the arts. Namely because at one point in time I wanted to be an artist. I can come up with some pretty weird shit, just you look at my wallet and see all the defaced dollar bills that I carry. If you've ever received change at a starbucks or CVS and it had some cartoon or comic book character on it, chances are I drew it. But much like anything in life, things change and I stopped dreaming of being an artist and got a real job.

That doesn't prevent me from looking to other artist who are pushing the boundaries of what the medium should handle and take it to new levels. With that I want to introduce to you some amazing art. Some of which I will have to find a print of and hang it up in my place because they are utterly awesome in every way possible.

His name is David Macdowell and well, he's drawn a lot of great paintings. I don't know what else needs to be said but let's soak in some more of his work, why don't we?

His take on pop culture is spot on and a lot of these that play tribute or insert one form of media into another, but either putting different films into different productions or putting a show/movies characters into a classic painting/portrait is something that can put a smile on my face.

And as any child of the 80's, his take on a lot of old movies like Stand By Me and the Molly Ringwald films of the time really do have that nostalgic appeal while also not pandering to simple... ok, yes, he is pandering to my nostalgic nature here. While I didn't enjoy all her films, she is a red head and well, I have a weakness for them.

Plain and simple, this dude is nuts. Absolutely nuts.

And hilariously awesome. I plan on picking up a print or two to eventually hang up because they're utterly awesome in every possible way.. known to human possibility. If you want to see the rest of his work and potentially buy something from him, I'd highly recommend visiting David Macdowell's Deviant Art website.

And to be topical, here's three more paintings he did that hold some special meaning as today is the release date of a newly remastered edition of The Wizard Of Oz. High def, extra features and crisp sounds.. OH MY! So enjoy some of his takes on the wonderful world of Frank Baum

Yes.. simply amazing piece of works.

Objects In Mirror Are Not What They Seem

Objects In Art Are Not What They Seem

Seems I've been doing a lot more post about art lately. Maybe it's that failed art student in me coming out and shining on pieces I find interesting. This one, for example, is a great one time piece that can't be shown in any institution but should be shared.

Takes new meaning to the whole idea of sidewalk art. Here's how it's made

Pretty impressive, I must say.

Though not all art is free to be seen. Routers reports that Chávez closes artistic exhibition, cites "moral decomposition"

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez slammed on Sunday a traveling exhibit of dissected cadavers, "Bodies Revealed," which has sparked controversy elsewhere, as evidence of the world's moral decomposition.

Chavez said the closure of the exhibition in Venezuela a few days ago was on his orders and that authorities had confiscated the bodies from a show that has been seen around the world by millions of people.

Shows such as "Bodies Revealed," which display cadavers using special techniques that dry out and then preserve them, have set off debate about the scientific or artistic value of the exhibits.

They have also occasionally -- such as when an exhibit reached New York -- become embroiled in controversies over the origin of the bodies and whether people gave permission that their cadavers could be used in such a way.

"We are in the midst of something macabre," Chavez said on his weekly TV show. "They are human bodies. Human bodies! ... This is a really clear sign of the huge moral decomposition that is hitting our planet."

Chavez, an ally of Cuba, told his supporters his self-styled socialist revolution had to be above all spiritual an ethical.

His tax agency closed the cadaver exhibit in Caracas a few days earlier, saying it was investigating if the bodies had been illegally declared in customs as made of plastic.

Seizing the means of art production! Hee, sorry. Socialist jokes aren't always funny. Though I'm a little torn. I'm sort of agreeing with him on this exhibit.

First they came for the traveling exhibit of dissected cadavers and i didnt speak up because i wasn't in a traveling exhibit of dissected cadavers.

Giant modern for-profit exhibition companies are hurting museums, both integrity-wise and financially. Premier Exhibitions Inc.--organizers of Bodies Revealed--is one of the worst offenders, not to mention that Bodies Revealed is just a copycat exhibit and has been sued multiple times by the original Body Works/von Hagens people.

Sure, Gunther von Hagen used executed Chinese prisoners' bodies. Let's just say von Hagens gets a kick aut of his creepy celebrity status and runs a plastination factory in Kyrgyzstan (for legal and financial reasons) that has plastinated thousands of human bodies and the background checks could have been a little more thorough.

Chavez pulled kind of a dick move here. Destroying international art and science is pretty reprehensible, I should know cause America does it all the time, but then again, this is one of the least important things to criticize Chavez about. Did you know Chavez is taking lands away from Coca-Cola. He's worse than fucking Pol Pot. Oh how oppressed must the Venezuelans be now that their horrible dictator is taking away their carbonated beverages from them!

Also as an interesting side note... Apparently the authorities raided this same exhibit and confiscated stuff when it was in South Korea, they just didn't shut the whole thing down like Chavez did.

Shitty Tattoos Return

Shitty Tattoos Return

It's hard to escape it, really. I mean. I will gladly continue to open up with the tattoo question on why I don't have one. The real reason is because I'm not going to commit to one image on my body for the rest of my life. I can't even remember what I was into and enjoyed five years ago, let alone what I will enjoy or find witty enough to keep on my body thirty years into the future.

These following folks, on the other hand, will gladly know the answer to that.. they will have shitty tattoos on their body. Now let's take a look at their crappy tattoos and learn that the body is not something to fuck with.

First up is Taco Bear. No, I didn't type Taco Bell wrong. In someone's mind I suppose they misheard the name and in their drunken stupor just rolled with it. But then they went ahead and figured that they would come up with the design of a bear enjoying tasty tacos. This is the end result.

Then we got this gem. She got this from a guy who shoehorned a jay and silent bob reference into his deviantart url. she admits it looks 'sketchy as hell if u havent seen the art' but perhaps thats because the art is sketchy as hell and she is some sort of retard who would rather use a shitty sketch than take the (awful) idea and have another artist redraw it to make it work better for a tattoo. oh and she got it smack dab between her tits. welp. Hope you enjoy having a penis shaped blender between your tits.

Though I guess it's a worse than the other tattoo she got that has secret meaning to it

get it. a square. on her hip. hip to be square. get it. She also apparently does that annoying air quotes thing so much she thought it woudl be agood idea to get actual apostrophes tattooed on her fingers in white ink. no, you wont really be able to see them but im sure next time she air quotes something she will really enthusiastically airquote the shit out of it and desperately look for someone to notice her shitty tattoos.

I'm not sure if it says Hold Fast or Mold Fast. Perhaps he's concerned with how long he has before the food in his fridge spoils? You would think that if you were getting something on your body that you'd want to make sure that it can be read with ease.

No, it's in step. But the real question is how much will you be able to read of it when he's out of shape. Will it look like a mushy pile of ink? Either way, foot tattoos are a little strange. Maybe it's because I'm not a hippie who only wears sandals, but I don't see all that many openings to show off your feet to anyone other than at the beach.

Many dumb tattoos can be blamed on drinking too much. This one is a direct result of drinking too much..

Nothing is more cool than a dragon tattoo. Not unless you count a dragon tattoo wrapped around a sword. Swords are awesome! They're sharp and they can cut things. Too bad you can't cut coolness with this.

While I enjoyed most of Lost for what it is, these fine folks decided that the number mystery was too much and they must simply get a tattoo reminding them of how awesome it is. I'm sure in twenty years the lotto numbers will be exactly these and then 20 thousand nerds will have to share the winnings.

Those aren't bug bites. This person is trying to relive the awesomeness that is Predator by mimicing that their leg is about the blown off by a Predators laser gun. Way to be cool, homie.

Star Wars nerds know no bounds. This one looks like an average lightsaber tattoo. Nothing strange about it, right?

Wrong. At night it lights up with the help of UV light. So you know this douche walks around everywhere with a UV light on his keychain showing this off.

This one... speaks for itself.

I'm not entirely sure I know what Hug Life is all about. I do know that I don't want any part of it.

While I love this state very much, I would not bother writing its name on my arm. What with the whole state budget in the shape that it is in and all.

Now the person with the next two I know. She's a nice person and hell, she let me share a room with her during one year at comic con when I wasn't able to book a room for myself. But I wouldn't be fair and balanced if I didn't point out the obvious in this stuff.

Take notice on where Link is jumping from. Her crotch. I have to say that after growing up playing the Zelda franchise I don't like to picture Link jumping out of someone's crotch. I remember that game all too well. I know what I would do when I was bored in the game. I would run around with Link and start slashing at bushes. Maybe I should stop with that metaphor while I'm ahead...

Here's a profile shot and notice that she has the Zelda life bar meter on her upper chest. Yes, that's pixeled hearts right there. I guess that's not a shitty tattoo. But I do have to wonder if she'll still like the game franchise or if she'll even remember when she's old and those hearts look like little lip stick smeared marks.

But hey, she did house me during comic con, so I can give her a pass, right? As for the other people's tattoos I pointed out in this blog. Fuck 'em. They're losers for getting those tattoos. Wait, let me correct myself. They're losers for getting those SHITTY tattoos.

Me on the other hand, I'm looking to get this tat'ed all on my back

YEEEEEE-HAW!

All The Presidents Gettin' It On

All The Presidents Gettin' It On

Yesterday I showed you a pretty nice take of all the president's women.. today I go a little more hardcore and show you all the presidents.... GETTIN' IT ON! OOOOOoooh Yeah! This is a pretty strange exhibition as the artist paints herself having sex with all the presidents.

The President fucker right here.

Yes. That's right. She creates scandel by having all of the first men.
In Join Or Die, I paint myself having sex with the Presidents of the United States in chronological order. I am interested in humanizing and demythologizing the Presidents by addressing their public legacies and private lives. The presidency itself is a seemingly immortal and impenetrable institution; by inserting myself in its timeline, I attempt to locate something intimate and mortal. I use this intimacy to subvert authority, but it demands that I make myself vulnerable along with the Presidents. A power lies in rendering these patriarchal figures the possible object of shame, ridicule and desire, but it is a power that is constantly negotiated.

I approach the spectacle of sex and politics with a certain playfulness. It would be easy to let the images slide into territory that's strictly pornographic—the lurid and hardcore, the predictably "controversial." One could also imagine a series preoccupied with wearing its "Fuck the Man" symbolism on its sleeve. But I wish to move beyond these things and make something playful and tender and maybe a little ambiguous, but exuberantly so. This, I feel, is the most humanizing act I can do.
Her statement about it is unbearably pretentious. Then again that's art-speak, man, haven't you ever been to a gallery?

This whole thing is a little suspicious. On the one hand, her pretentious art speak makes sense, but on the other hand this gives her an excuse to draw herself naked and having sex 43 times (44 if she fucks Cleveland twice) and be called edgy and daring for it.

I bet all the other artists who like drawing themselves having sex were bummed they didn't think of it first

And here she is giving head

Since you need to witness this car accident of an art exhibit, here's the Link to the art pieces of her fucking the Presidents

I guess the real question is that if you haven't imagined yourself having sex with all the presidents before now, I don't know what to tell you. You're just not human. At least not patriotic. So far I did a blog on the President's mistresses and now the Presidents themselves. She needs to do the first ladies series next.

I'm really tempted to ask her which president had the biggest wang in her little fantasy world. But that'll just open up a can of worms that I'm not ready tohandle.

Is she pegging Buchanan. I was worried about how she'd handle the gay one but it all worked out in the end. Yes, that was a pun. Hey, if she could get away with bending over and fucking the chef in command, I could do stupid puns. What, are you going to stop me?

How could she treat the Presidents this way. I guess the artist does want to humanize them but I have to question if seeing someone getting pegged or getting it on really does that? It's using their image and just enjoying sex with them. Well, does it seem like enjoyment? I guess that's in the eye of the beholder (D&D reference oooh yeah!) Well it's too late now. The only question is if she'll follow through and finish this series. I have to say, I lost it when i got to John Quincy Adams.

He looks like Jabba the Hutt. Which I'm not sure if it's historically accurate but hey, this Asian wants to take it to the streets, she's gonna have to play hard. Wait, what did that even mean?

Some of these are a little odd though. I'm not even touching the Pegging. I'm a bit surprised and looking forward to what's to come. FDR should totally be getting a lapdance. It'd be awesome if her picture of her with Warren G. Harding was him completely limp with an apologetic facial expression and she's in the foreground like "Whatever."

How could I forget Tricky Dick? Nixon's gonna be funny whatever it is because she has to paint his scowl. It's by law that he has to always have a scowl on his face whenever he's pictured. We call it Nixon's law.

Carter will be so sad, he said that he once cheated on his wife by having thoughts for another woman and it made him feel shitty. This bitch is gonna break his heart. Why would you do that to Jimmy, WHY?!?! I mean, she drew Lincoln without his hat, grant without a liquor bottle, and Jackson without a single firearm. She's not really making them any less human. Though, I guess using items that would have me relating to their image does help the cause.

Why stop at the Presidents anyway? What about the Vice Presidents? Do they get sloppy seconds? I will pay good money if she did a series on Al Gore and Biden. Shit, Biden needs a full 50 painting series himself. His smirk alone could make any girl drip.

I wonder if she did any history on these guys and found out what they'd like sexual and then went from there. Like, does Lincoln really have an enjoyment of getting head? I know he liked Wrestling, but did he really like head? Let's not talk about the pegging but if this isn't just some social commentary on the presidents basic human enjoyment, I'm not sure that this isn't anything more than her fucking some presidents.

Perhaps she's just playing into the whole deep seeded Asian girl fantasy most men have. I can honestly say that I don't give a shit about all that. I'm immune to that Asian ~*^_^*~ Fetish. Maybe it's just that they think they'll have someone to watch anime together and eat Japanese food with. The idea that they're naturally submissive must really get those guys with insecurity issues. Guess what guys, cleaning the cheetos crumbs out of your chest hair is not l'amour!

This kinda makes me wish I had voted for Hillary Clinton, or as all the peeps who know whats up call her, Hilldog. Perhaps she should make a gangbang scene with all the Presidents waiting in line for their turn. I mean, how can you do any president after Obama? Isn't there some sort of saying for that whole thing? Oh, don't act like you're innocent and pure. I don't even need to say it and I'm sure you already know what I'm talking about.

So yes. I end March with the art world marching forth in a political manner. Maybe April will be a little less political and a little more celebratory since it's filled with so many fun dates to look forward to. On to a new age!
