Titans Clashing

Titans Clashing

I'm not even going to complain about remakes. I know a lot of people say that Hollywood is out of ideas, but I don't mind. It still means I get a pay check if they hire me to do production work on something already made. If anything, the newer movie isn't going to negate the older film's power and enjoyment factor. So why not allow people to re-imagine things? You wouldn't have many Disney classics if you didn't want people to retell old stories that weren't original.

But it doesn't mean that we shouldn't compare the two or at the very least put them together and see how one compares with the other. So in that vain, take a look at both of these Clash of the Titans trailers. You'll see that a lot has changed in the last 25 years.

That was the original and here's the modern, CGI filled newer version:

It's at least interesting to see how much things have changed and how, with the use of new technology, we have advanced a lot. Now let's see if the story telling is still there to match the upgrade in the special effects.

30 Dates Of Nights: 7 Making Her An Offer She Can't Refuse

30 Dates Of Nights: 7 Make Her An Offer She Can't Refuse

You know this spill already. The L.A. Times released this article about eight dates under $25 in Los Angeles a long ass time ago and since then I have been coming up with an ongoing list of my own. While the majority of them have been outdoor cheap exciting treats, there has been a couple of stay indoor adventures mixed in there.

This week in 1972 The Godfather was released. That's 37 years ago for you not in the know of this wacky thing called math. Unless you're dating a cougar, anyone you may have any potential to go out with may not have seen this timeless classic trilogy. Yes, I said it. Trilogy. While the third one may not have been great compared to the other two but it's like comparing cold pizza to something freshly baked and out of the oven. It's still good, just not as good as the really good stuff. But it's still tasty.

take a seat and enjoy a film..

Which brings into question the potential of sitting down and watching them. Perhaps like wine, they have aged well enough to enjoy in a marathon fashion? So building a theme around the Godfather trilogy seems like the perfect way to spend nine hours of your time. Make an Italian dinner or order in and go rent the films.

How about you make lasagna together? The assembly of that dish can be a task in itself. Helping one another in it can bring you together... it could also tear you apart if you fuck it up too much now. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. While it takes a little work to assemble it's still going to pay out great in the end.

After it's all cooked you two grab some wine or some Italian sodas and sit down to watch the epic one by one till your butts get sore from sitting through the multiple endings. That and leaving the room when Sophia starts her terrible acting. Yeah, she's a better director but we wont forget that god awful acting...

Maybe they'll be smooches after?

This is one of those events that you can leave the gun but don't you dare forget the cannoli!
Leave the gun but take the cannoli! Literally. Get some of those delicious treats. It'll be nice to get something sweet in your mouth after all the bloodshed hits the screen.

Pretty simple segment of 30 dates of nights, I must say. The real hard work is getting through all the films. That's a lot of sitting to do and the third one... it's not that easy to get through it after you've enjoyed such masterpieces before it. But it'll be something you tell your godchildren and their godchildren about when they ask about how the two of you braved it out... and enjoyed tasty food together.

Watching A Movie Backwards

Watching A Movie Backwards

When I worked at the now bankrupt Blockbuster, there was an old saying "Be Kind, Rewind" In many sense I took this motto to heart a little too much and once rewound a whole movie. The results of which showed me that you can get an entirely different meaning from a movie if only viewed in a rewind motion.

One of my favorite Dave Atell comedy bits was when he said: "I like watching 'Girls Gone Wild' backwards so it changes into 'Girls Who've Learned Their Lesson'. "Hey! I don't need to be a drunken skank!" In that same respect it's just a matter of seeing a story entirely different.

The ending becomes the beginning and the beginning, well, it doesn't make much sense all the time. It does lead to interesting results. So let me take you down the road on how different some films would be if they were just viewed in reverse.

JAWS: If you watch it backwards, its a movie about a shark that was put together by a shot canister that starts throwing up people until they have to open a beach.

Star Wars: Darth Vader travels the galaxy curing men of their asthma.

Memento: It's about a guy who remembers things.

A film in normal motion

Requiem for a Dream: is an uplifting story about four people who overcome their drug addictions and whose lives spiral into control.

Reservoir dogs: A bunch of guys dressed in suits come back from the dead, wait in a warehouse for a long time, drop a bunch of diamonds off at a jewellers and then go have breakfast at a diner where they talk about Madonna's dick.

Fight Club: The space monkeys become a community service clan and clean up a lot of vandalism.

In this version you DO talk about fight club

Planet of the Apes: A guy hangs with some apes for a while, then leaves earth and comes back.

The Matrix: A bunch of crazy shit happens, and then Neo wakes up. Woah, what a dream.

Office Space: Peter donates a lot of money to Initech. In response, they hire his friends Samir and Michael.

Nice men fixing office supplies

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest: The Chief breaks into the institution and brings McMurphy to life with his magic pillow. McMurphy helps end the bad attitudes/rebellion against Nurse Ratchet, before being declared sane, and sent to a work farm.

Kill Bill: Uma Thurman resurrects a bunch of people before lapsing into a coma and wakes up in a wedding dress.

Evil Dead 2: An insane man gradually regains his sanity over the space of a night.

Look at the evil dead helping her out of the grave

Cloverfield: The US Army firebombs New York. A giant monster feels obligated to help put it back together. The protagonists have a party, and go to the fair.

Night of the Living Dead: It's a movie about dead people who come back to life.

The Wizard of Oz: Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas, uses some magical shoes to travel to another world. Suddenly, some water spilled on the ground rises up into the form of a wicked witch. Dorothy is scared and flees east to a city made entirely out of emerald, where she meets a wizard who tells her that she cannot return home until the wicked witch is dead. She also meets some traveling companions; the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, and the Cowardly Lion. She sets off east as there is also a wicked witch in that direction. Along the way, the Cowardly Lion's nerves break down and he runs away. The Tin Woodsman rusts and Dorothy leaves him in a forest. The Scarecrow begins to annoy Dorothy with his unceasing chatter and she sticks him on a pole for birds to peck at. Finally, with only her faithful dog Toto left by her side, Dorothy finds the wicked witch, but the witch is already dead; a house has fallen on her. With the witch having been killed, Dorothy can now return home; she enters the house and a magical tornado transports her and Toto back to Kansas.

Just don't play Darkside of the Moon backwards while watching it. It's a mind trip

The Royal Tenenbaums: Luke Wilson, after receiving an infusion of magical blood through his wrists miraculously grows a ton of a hair and revitalizes his beard but unfortunately is too late to revitalize his career.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: a charming story about the only guy in the world who experiences time correctly, and eventually turns into a dwarf

The Ring: Little girl resurrects people from gruesome deaths before crawling backwards into their TVs.

Backwards it's God putting faces on a bunch of Nazis.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: An American archeologist, his girlfriend and their Asian kid take a lot of Indian kids to an underground temple to put them to work as slaves who are supposed to cover up gems in the ground. After meeting a very extravagant surgeon who's quite good at heart transplants, they jump up into an airplane in a raft. They then go to Shanghai and break up.

Saving Private Ryan: A unit of soldiers that has just dropped of a friendly soldier behind enemy lines travels hundreds of miles through occupied countryside to be able to retreat back to England.

Inland Empire: I still have no fucking idea what's going on.

The Princess Bride: A young boy is sick, but he is happy because his grandfather is coming to read him a book. However, as the story goes on, the boy gets less and less interested. At the end, the grandfather decides to be a dick and pinches the boy's cheek even though he knows the boy hates this. The boy can't wait for the grandfather to leave. He decides that he hates books and quickly goes back to playing video games.

Wall-e: A dangerously malfunctioning robot sabotages a spaceship's attempt to return to Earth, before traveling back to undo the decontamination efforts. What a dick.

The Big Lebowski: The Dude and Walter suck some ashes out of the ocean with a magic coffee can. Later on, they meet Donny who was asleep in a parking lot. Together, the three of them help some Germans up who had fallen down in front of a burning car. They celebrate by swinging a sword around! The Dude kicks a woman out of his apartment after having sex, and our three heroes spend a lot of time working at the local bowling alley helping set up pins and return bowling balls to their proper places.

Walter and The Dude leave a suburban home after Walter repairs a dented car with a baseball bat. The Dude gives his old dirty car away to the impound lot, only to get it back later finding it cleaned and repaired! He meets the woman from earlier, but strangely dosen't remember her. She has a job removing paint from large rolls of canvas.

The Dude and Walter narrowly avoid a car crash and manage to catch a bag that was thrown into their car window! The bag mysteriously contains Walter's underwear. At home, The Dude notices he suddenly has a rug he has never seen before and he decides has had enough of his new rug, and gives it to a wealthy man in a mansion. He replaces it with an older rug.

Later on while The Dude is relaxing at home, some helpful gentleman appear and help The Dude by removing some urine from his old rug with some sort of pants vacuum.

After some more helpful work down at the bowling alley, The Dude decides to erase a check and return some milk to the local supermarket.

That's just, like, your opinion, man.

And with that, I'm not sure what else can be said. Certainly not going to top the dude so I'll leave it at that. Ah, the wonders of the rewind button.

Oscar Shut Out

Oscar Shut Out

This weekend is the Oscars and I really couldn't care very much about them. It comes as a surprise since I'm such an industry whore. It has just been one of those years that nothing really popped out at me as something I loved enough to see it get awards. Add in that Hugh Jackman is the host and you completely lost me. I really don't care if "really tall" Wolverine is hosting it. He may be the sexiest man alive. Then again, I'm not gay so again, I don't care.

The Host of the show... Mr. Sexy himself!

If anything can be said about this years Oscars it's that it's the Coronation of Slumdog Millionaire. We all know it's going to win. It's such a non-brainer. But while it's clear that Slumdog will take home the prize, there's many folks screaming foul on the fact that other films didn't make the cut.

The Dark Knight is one of those films that is loved by one and all. While I loved the film, I did think that Bale's Batman voice has been god awful in every possible way. I'd say that Ledger's Joker was the best possible thing of that film. Without him, I'd have the same stance I do with Batman Begins. That is while it's cool to see once, I doubt I'll watch it all the way through again. Ledger did get the Oscar nomination for his role even though he's dead. So what's the problem here folks? The best part of the film got his due.

Little dude making all the noise

But then again, that's not enough for some fans who are now taking up the dumbest causes. The cause to make sure Ledger is the last Joker. They're demanding that Heath Ledger's role as the Joker be retired with him.
LONDON, England (CNN) -- A group of Heath Ledger fans have taken their reverence for the late "The Dark Knight" star to a whole new level.

Followers of the actor, who electrified audiences with his chilling reinvention of the Joker in the second Batman blockbuster, are calling for the character to be retired from the movies permanently.

Ledger supporters at new Web site, The Ultimate Joker, launched a petition last week calling for studios to remove the Joker from any future Batman movies. The petition currently has 2,431 supporters.

"We think Heath deserves this honor," the site's team leader, Fer Barbella, told CNN from Buenos Aires, Argentina. "He is the ultimate Joker.

That's an amazingly stupid cause to be fighting for. Don't get me wrong. Heath was an amazing Joker. Hell, I've been saying that long since before the Dark Knight came out and was still in production. I think they are just upset because TDK wasn't nominated in every Oscar category.

I wonder if we're also suppose to retire gay cowboys and Medieval knights jousting to modern rock? Besides, do they really think that they'll need to bring back the joker for the rest of the franchise? It seems like something that's a moot point and wouldn't be an issue. Now if they're talking about forever keeping joker out of any Batman film or show.. Fuck them in the ear.

Besides, cesar Romero is dead too. They should have retired the Joker years ago!

If anyone got snubbed in this Oscar race it was Clint Eastwood. Gran Torino may have been badly acted by everyone besides Clint but it was still a good film all around and had a clear cut message. Besides, shouldn't Clint get something for all the racist remarks he said? He didn't get a damn nomination.

Hell, Revolutionary Road may have been like awkwardly listening in on a couple fight for two hours and then find themselves at a very disturbing ending, but Leonardo DiCaprio was shut out of the best actor role. Kate Winslet, who I'm discovering is very much a beautiful actress even when she's not all wacky looking like she was in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. She, on the other hand, is more than likely going to take the Best Actress for the Reader.

Even more so is that Oscar snub is that many of the Oscar attending stars are being asked to avoid the red carpet.

A US report claims that publicists for some of the ceremony's presenters have been asked to instruct their clients to enter the ceremony's venue through an 'off camera' entrance.

According to the LA Times, organisers hope that the element of surprise may help to resuscitate viewing figures for the February 22nd telecast, which dipped to an all-time low of 32 million last year. It represented a 20 per cent drop on 2007 ratings.

The strategy to save more 'star power' for the ceremony has drawn complaints from several quarters, however. "If you show only half the people who are going to be at the Oscars beforehand on the red carpet, that's not a very good commercial for the show," photographer and WireImage co-founder Jeff Vespa told the newspaper. "How do you have the largest red carpet in the world and put less celebs on it?"

Which leads one to really ask why bother with a red carpet anyway? I really don't care about the fashion of it all. As if E! needed anything else to fill their station with. Hours and hours of pointless "who looked who" and "who was wearing WHAT?!"

As Borat would say "Veeerrrry Niccce!"

My advice, avoid Hollywood at all cost today. Highland is closed and the streets are going to be crazy all around that area. You'll really be the one who gets snubbed. Snubbed at getting anything done if you're stuck in traffic.

So I guess I should just do the whole "Who will win" bullshit and then check on the results later..

Here's my Oscar predictions: Everything about them will be boring and horrible and they will suck heartily. Pick that in your work pool. I don't care who wins best actor,Could not give a fuck less for best actress, and for best picture it's Slumming it cause it's a feel good film.

Paul Newman will be in the montage video with a bunch of dead dudes you don't know. Oh shit! It's that dude who was a gaffer on wizard of Oz who died! I loved that dude. He gaffed the shit out of some shit -Cowardly lion or whatever. He was gaffed as fuck. And now an era ends...

I guess I should write these down so you can have something to take into your pool you're betting money on with others with...

The 10 movies you should watch online

The 10 Movies You Shouldn't Watch Online

If you were one of the lucky ones to not get tramped to death in a Wal*mart black Friday sale for a $300 piece of shit laptop, then perhaps you have something to be thankful for. One.. your life. Two... a new laptop. But the real question is what will you do with that new laptop? Sure you can just watch porn on it or do your taxes or play solitaire on it. You certainly aren't going to want to watch films on it, right?

Because Yahoo released a list of films that you SHOULDN'T watch on your computer. My question to that is.. Um.. what? Why? Is there any film that you specifically want to watch on a smaller screen opposed to a bigger screen? This should apply to ALL films. Watch them as big as you can.

I have an Video iPod and I can't recall a single time that I sat through a whole movie on that small screen. Then I realize how big monitors are getting these days. Some are trumping most TVs. Hell, my monitors are bigger than one of my TVs. Wait, why do I have more than one TV? Maybe I just explained the name of the blog. Who knows.

So this is the list of movies you simply SHOULDN'T see on your computer. As if you're just looking for stuff to watch on your monitor besides porn and youtube videos.

1. Lawrence of Arabia - Because seeing a desert on a small screen makes ol' 'rence (As I call him) look like a tiny ant.

2, Last of the Mohicans - Killing Indians shouldn't be limited to a tiny screen.. Wait, what?

3. Jaws - We're gonna need a bigger screen.

4. North By northwest - Has anyone seen more of this film besides that scene with Cary Grant being chased by the plane? Didn't think so.

5. Star Wars - I don't get this one. Wouldn't it be convenient to be a mouse click away to complaining how much Lucas has raped your childhood in changing the original?

6. WarGames - Ok, this is their description as to why this one can't be seen on your computer.

There isn't anything so cinematic about this 1983 thriller starring Matthew Broderick . But watching a movie about Cold War -era paranoia in which a computer threatens to bomb the world might cause you to panic out of distrust for all things computerized and throw your laptop out the window.
What. the. fuck? What retard wrote this? Serious shit. I already don't trust my computer.. or at least the Nigerian prince who reside on the internet.. Besides, Matthew Broderick is only known for ONE role... I speak of course

7. Barry Lyndon - Meh, I'd really like to see Kubrick's 2001 as the one to see on the bigger scren.

8. Raiders of the Lost Ark - Unlike Crystal Skull, this one is a must see just about anywhere.

9. The Third Man - This is not Rick Astley. So anyone reading this won't ever see this nor ever care to..

10. You Got Mail - Wait.. what? This movie just begs for you to find your one true romance on eHarmony or craigslist.

Yahoo has it all wrong in suggesting which films NOT to watch. I can't think of many films that you'd want to first experience on a small screen. Then again, most laptops are bigger than most TVs I've ever owned. The important thing to remember is that you should enjoy films to the fullest however method you want to. At the very least make sure you see half of the list of films there. I know many people who never even seen Raiders of the Lost Ark. FOR SHAME! Both on Yahoo and those who haven't had the pleasure of watching great films. Oh yeah, sucks for that one dude who got killed but you knew the risk before you took the chance. Right.
