Facial Treatment

Facial Treatment

I'm not even going to bother with tossing this topic out using "A FRIEND" or the thought that some reader sent me an e-mail about this. Because let's face it.. I have none. Not to mention if I did have any readers, they wouldn't bother sending me hate mail, let alone relationship/sex questions.

If you're anyone who has seen any porn in your life you're probably aware of the concept of a Facial. In case your virgin eyes haven't ever seen a porn or you've been home schooled, here's Wikipedia to give you a good description of the act.
A facial (also facial cumshot or cum facial) is a term for the sexual activity in which a man ejaculates semen onto the face of one or more sexual partners.

A facial is a form of non-penetrative sex, though it is generally performed after some other means of sexual stimulation, such as anal sex, intercourse, masturbation, or oral sex. Facial cumshots are regularly depicted in Western and Japanese pornographic media, often as a way to close a scene.

My thought on this issue is this.. I don't get it. If your partner is down with it, what's my moral standings to say it's not Okay. Besides, this isn't just a feminist concern. Maybe gay men enjoy facials too? I don't know! But do men like it because it is a way of dominating their partner? Would men do it if they didn't have porn to learn it from?

I get it - what goes on between two consenting adults is nobodies business but theirs and trying to stop facials because they are demeaning is like trying to stop gay sex because it makes god mad. It really is just some perspective on the matter.

Besides, if you tell a young woman that her behavior has to conform to feminist principles or else she is a gender traitor you are just seeking to replace patriarchal control over her with feminist control. You are essentially saying 'we don't trust you to make your own decisions'. The whole thing just turns into a giant stamp of approval like a rabbi waving his hands at a warehouse to make diet coke kosher.

Woah, didn't think I could some how link diet coke to cum, now did you? I suppose if a girl wants to take a few thick ropes on the chin, she can take a shower and still go out of the house that day carrying a torch for Women's rights. I won't judge her.. but I will wonder why?

The only reason why it's even considered acceptable now is because our generation grew up with hardcore porn where it's the norm considering porn almost always includes degradation and humiliation of the female.. cause that's what sells. If you considered that then you probably wouldn't want to do it to someone you actually cared about.

Why oh why would you want to emulate something you've seen in a porno in real life? Why no, there's certainly not anything wrong with that right there.. Not anything at all.. I mean, it's all subjective, right. In the bible there's wives who wouldn't let them spill their seed upon open ground or he'd be killed on the spot. Sex is for procreation - not for facial miniaturization.

Then again, ejaculating INSIDE a female partner seems to be more of a patriarchal/egotistical action. You're basically attempting to create more of yourself for the purpose of carrying out your goals in the world.

Just belly bust it on your lady, man. Then go and get the tissues. And that's if you're not using condoms.. which you should be if you're just randomly hooking up and not in a serious relationship now.
The act of ejaculating on the female face is the assertion of a sexual dominion, or geospacial hegemony over the women (or “receptacle”). By isolating the semiotics of the face from the bodily integrity and multiplicity of the subject, it denies the female recipient the context of the biological functions of the reproductive system, emphasizing the unnaturality as perversity of the act. The racial-colonial element of this hegemony is characterized by the creamy white colour of the semen, landing at various territories of the face and spreading slowly along the path of least resistance with the implicit purpose of reproducing the colonial model of the yeoman-settler(1)

1) Noam Chomsky: Hegemony or Survival
I mean, you're hiding a females face under a layer of pure masculinity - Truly the most feminist thing one can ever do... Just think about it. Your girlfriend/boyfriend is okay with it, or willing to deal with it because their thinking is based on an idea of "pleasing your man" that has been warped due to an aggressively misogynistic culture.

As always, feedback is always welcome. That one dude who spams my comments with Japanese porn links gets awfully lonely. Just go ahead and spray the conversation everywhere and see where it lands. Maybe one topic will stick and I'll write more on it.

What Oil Spill?

What Oil Spill?

Did you guys hear the news? BP closed up the oil well. Now for the first time since April there isn't oil gushing out of the ocean floor and into the gulf. Man oh man, I'm sure glad that's all over with. Let's wash our hands and go home! Well, at least that's what BP is doing as they're scaling back their cleanup efforts.
BP Fires 10,000 Cleanup Workers

New BP CEO Bob Dudley wasn't kidding when he announced last week that it was time for the company to scale back oil-spill cleanup operations. In fact, by the time he'd said that, the responder force had been drawn down by about 25 percent.

On July 13, the Deepwater Horizon Joint Command was reporting 46,000 responders. On July 23, it was down to 30,000, and the numbers have hovered around the low 30s since. Included in this tally are some Coast Guard and National Guard staff, but BP and subcontractors comprise the vast majority. (I've been trying to get the exact breakdown from the Coast Guard for four days, but to no avail, and BP said it didn't have it on hand, though the Coast Guard has told me it just reports BP's numbers.) In Grand Isle, Louisiana, cleanup workers (none of whom can be named; you know this drill by now) say their coworkers were either told to go home for Tropical Storm Bonnie and then never called back or fired in a massive and sudden drug test.

"Friday, the day before Bonnie, they sent a bunch of people home until further notice, and a lot of people didn't get the further notice," one supervisor told me. "Then last week, they shut the whole [cleanup operation] down. It was 'Piss in a cup or throw your ID in the bucket.' This was a BP drug test, not a [subcontracting] company drug test. It's the first time BP tested us."

A BP spokesman told me that all its subcontractors are required to drug test their cleanup employees and allow BP to do random checks itself; it just happened to do one of those checks last week. But the cleanup workers believe the company's motivation was to fire a bunch of people fast. Maybe it's because they're conspiracy theorists. Or maybe it's because the subcontractors had long had openly lax substance-abuse standards. "Most of those people had never been drug tested before," the supervisor told me. "I worked for two different subcontractors that didn't test me." He also pointed out that the local bar's parking lot is nightly full of company cars and drunk guys who drive them; one cleanup worker I met had a picture in his phone of beer cans in the cupholders of cleanup vehicles in broad daylight. "They wanted to get rid of people, and drug testing was a good way to do it. I used to supervise 30 guys; now I've got 10."

The scaleback is set to continue. Supervisors say they're supposed to break down to just a "skeleton crew" by the end of September, so hopefully the media myth that there's no more oil anywhere comes true. "Everything still changes day to day," the supervisor told me. "You don't know when a bunch of oil's gonna pop up."
It shouldn't come to anyone surprise that after months of pumping dispersant into the gulf we're real shocked that we're not finding oil on the surface. It's not like BP used millions of gallons of a substance designed to hide the visible effects of the spill, no-siree. It's like nature is magically taking care of it all. In ten years, this is just going to be one of those "oh yeah, well that happened" sort of event and BP will still have yet to pay any claims.

So this was pretty much their plan the whole time. To go ahead and dump enough corexit so there wouldn't be oil on the surface. Recall that the EPA told BP to stop dumping it in the ocean because it's as toxic as the oil. This way during the flybys, which are the only things that the media cares about, would show a small part of the true extent of the spill. Put a nice drape over a mess.

Then again, I'm pretty sure anyone who saw them pouring corexit like if it was sugar in tea thought it was really, really, really obvious. Take for example the front page of CNN. See if you can spot the coverage that the oil spill is getting....

You see that? That is all that remains of the oil spill in the American conscious.

Everything people really remember and get upset about when it comes to oil spills are the slicks. Beaches and animals and people and ocean covered in black, like with the Valdez and recent Chinese pipeline spill. Dispersant prevents those images from ever being a possibility, making BP's life immensely easier.

It doesn't help that the public has the attention span of a gnat. With the local "experts" and authorities will cover since they're practically in their pocket already, and that the administration isn't willing to make a fight of this as long as money keeps flowing and it drops out of sight quickly, and that the people that care are so disgusted with this that they move on, knowing that as long as they're part of the system they'll never be able to overcome this and they're unwilling to sacrifice their own lifestyle to affect real change.

It's all about the pretty pictures that help keep things in the public's mind. So if the oil was never dispersed and we could see an oil slick the size of Utah sitting on the gulf and heading ominously toward expensive vacation property, you bet your ass that would be on the news every second or every day. But now that they can go "Look, you can't see any oil!" then there's nothing left to really complain about.

Check out this video from 8/6 of what appears to be the skandi rov #1 being buffeted by currents of... well, shit, I don't know. Maybe silt, methane hydrates, water displaced by seafloor upwellings? And for at least five minutes straight.

I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems like a real, honest oil cleanup would take years and constant vigilance to protect endangered areas, but I think most people didn't expect BP to hang around forever. I suppose Southern LA hoped they would, but I can't blame them for it. But this is an increasingly quick withdrawal from the region leaving LA's environment and economy. Much like any hurricane, the local population is left to pick up the pieces.

I just have to ask who is going to be chowing down on gulf seafood once it gets the all clear from our agencies who regulate it. I bet dollars to donuts that some folks are going to go fishing in Lafitte and cook whatever attaches itself to their hook and eat that shit right up. No way in hell I am.

Irony Is Dead

Irony Is Dead

In a blog a couple of days ago I wrote about how this whole Muslim church controversy was a bunch of horseshit and that the conservative religious right were making such a big deal about it being built within 2 miles from the WTC foundation and were silly in trying to block it from being built.

But this next story, one that didn't make the cut, mainly due to it being released far after I finished writing that piece and showed up in the news over the last two days is something that The Onion couldn't make up. You see The Museum of Tolerance director opposes the Mosque
The group behind the recently opened "Museum of Tolerance" museum in Manhattan has come out against a planned Islamic community center, which includes a mosque, near Ground Zero.

"Religious freedom does not mean being insensitive...or an idiot," Rabbi Meyer May, the Wiesenthal Center's executive director, told Crain's New York.

"Religion is supposed to be beautiful," he said. "Why create pain in the name of religion?"

It's a topic he knows something about. The Wiesenthal Center caused an uproar in for building one of its Museums of Tolerance on top of an old Muslim burial ground in Jerusalem.

The building of that museum has "resulted in digging up the remains of people who had been buried in a Muslim cemetery for generations," according to City University professor Marnia Lazreg. Indeed, in 2006, workers dug up bones, and an Arab group sued to stop the project from going forward.

The Wiesenthal Center has pushed forward, however, and in 2008 the Israeli Supreme Court declared that the center was allowed to build its museum on the land.

The court pointed out that no one had objected years before when the city had paved over the land for a parking lot.

The furor over the downtown Manhattan community center has intensified over the past few weeks. It should be noted, though, that Muslims already hold daily prayers in the building and have for months. And the actual World Trade Center site will host an office tower -- with Conde Nast in negotiations to become a prime tenant.

You really can't make this stuff up anymore. This is what reading hours worth of news papers/sites and hearing NPR news is all made worth it.

Thus, Irony is fucking dead. I wonder how much tolerance is needed to bulldoze Muslim gravestones in Jerusalem to build a museum for tolerance and human dignity. The whole act of building on the cemetery is particularly disgusting.

Speaking about worthless things, I've been asked why I hate the New York Times so much. I find their articles to generally be written like shit.
Across Nation, Mosque Projects Meet Opposition

While a high-profile battle rages over a mosque near ground zero in Manhattan, heated confrontations have also broken out in communities across the country where mosques are proposed for far less hallowed locations.

In Murfreesboro, Tenn., Republican candidates have denounced plans for a large Muslim center proposed near a subdivision, and hundreds of protesters have turned out for a march and a county meeting.

In late June, in Temecula, Calif., members of a local Tea Party group took dogs and picket signs to Friday prayers at a mosque that is seeking to build a new worship center on a vacant lot nearby.

In Sheboygan, Wis., a few Christian ministers led a noisy fight against a Muslim group that sought permission to open a mosque in a former health food store bought by a Muslim doctor.

At one time, neighbors who did not want mosques in their backyards said their concerns were over traffic, parking and noise — the same reasons they might object to a church or a synagogue. But now the gloves are off.

In all of the recent conflicts, opponents have said their problem is Islam itself. They quote passages from the Koran and argue that even the most Americanized Muslim secretly wants to replace the Constitution with Islamic Shariah law.
White people are the best hypocrites ever. Americans are becoming 1930's era Germans right before our very own eyes.

I suppose that at least it's interesting to observe the rise of First World bigotry as a far-right response to tough economic times. Still, must suck to be brown right now. It really blows my mind that people actually believe shit like this:
“As a mother and a grandmother, I worry,” Ms. Serafin said. “I learned that in 20 years with the rate of the birth population, we will be overtaken by Islam, and their goal is to get people in Congress and the Supreme Court to see that Shariah is implemented. My children and grandchildren will have to live under that.”

Conservatives basically think that all the horrible allegations throughout history against the Jews in Western Europe are true when applied to Muslims.

Large mosques are a million times more pleasing to the eye than mega churches. But if we must deny a place of prayer, why do it to mosques? The largest of mosques are a million times more pleasing to the eye than mega churches that you see all along the south.

Besides that, when the fuck did Ground Zero become some sacred ground?

Eat, Pray, Love Our Mercidise

Eat Pray Love Our Merchandise

It's no surprise that Scott Pilgrim didn't do all that great in the box office, but let's face it.. it's the biggest Edgar Wright opening.. and that's saying something about our society since the man is awesome in every possible way.

Besides, this past weekend also saw the release of the Expendables which probably split the audience and it's not like Michael Cera is really that much of a star that he could carry his own picture. Though none of that really matters. I'm just really glad that movie got made and exists and will eventually be out on Blueray.

Which leads to an interesting question - how much is too much when it comes to merchindising for a film. And I'm not even looking at Scott Pilgrim. That film is designed to go after the youth that has money to piss away and very little credit card debt to freely do so. I'm looking at another film in this instance. EAT, PRAY, LOVE.

Yes, this one is a very confusing concept to grasp. Who actually wants to see Julia Roberts on screen again? Put her and Sarah Jessica Parker in a film together and it'll be Sea biscuit 2! Okay, now that I've alienated a lot of people let me go on to why I'm blasting this film other than the obvious.

The film EAT, PRAY, LOVE is the new Julia Roberts flick about the story of one woman's journey to de-clutter her life. So I have to wonder why there's 400 products that are riding on the coat tails of this film like a Disney film on McDonalds food products.

The film encourages and embraces a sort of release of all material items. It goes on about finding the simple pleasures in life. So why not find those simple pleasures while wearing your Lancome "Eat Pray Love" collection exclusively made for them.

There's a slew of jewelry to choose from as well. The Los Angeles based jewelry company Dogeared is hoping you want their necklaces and arm bands clutter your jewelry box as they struck a deal with Sony Pictures to make merchandise branded with the film.

Fred Segal and ABC Carpet & Home have started to stock the knick knacks and trinkets. Ranging from travel baubles and other female shiny objects from about $20-$100. They're using the justification that "we relate to the theme of a woman's journey for self-fulfillment and happiness", says the founder of Dogeared. As we are all aware that self-fulfillment and happiness are often found at the end of a very large shopping spree for necklaces and "eat", "pray", "love" charm bracelets.

It's as if Harley Davidson released a special "Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance chopper." I guess I should just be happy that The Expandables beat EAT PRAY LOVE. Audiences have finally chosen Eric Roberts over Julia Roberts.

If You're In California, You Might As Well Get Gay Married

If You're In California, You Might As Well Get Gay Married

I realize it takes time to plan a wedding, but let's just get it out there - the window for this gay marriage thing may be a little small, so hurry up and get your flowers all set up already because you see Judge Vaughn R. Walker essentially lifted the stay so gay couples in California can get married again.
RT @freedomtomarry: BREAKING: Judge Walker lifts stay, and same-sex couples now have the freedom to marry in CA #Prop8 – Please RT! #lgbt
You hear that noise? It's the sound of 24 million Yes on 8 dollars that just went down the drain. Vaughn R. Walker is not only gay, but he's also awesome. Though he's probably going to get hot by some other judge who will then claim insanity or something.

I mean, marriage is still state-subsidized rape and all, but oh well, good for the gay community now. The nuclear families are the cells of the capitalist cancer when you think about it.. Remember that movie "I pronounce you chuck and larry" where in the trailer they were supposed to be fake gay married and someone was all like "why don't you kiss" and then they were all "ewwwwwwww"

Yeah, millions of people laughed at that unironically.

According to the media pundits, it's now only days away till they also lift the ban on dog marriages and my taboo love for my welsh corgi can finally be publicly consummated.

Just FYI, the stay has been extended for at least another week, so gays can't get married just yet but then again, I'm not even gay and I half want to marry some other guy just because we can. Or should I take it one step up? I have this horse I want to marry, they should be able to help me out on this one, right?

You know that the Yes on 8 will file an appeal to the 9th, and a three judge panel there will determine the standing issue. If the prop 8 supporters are denied standing by the 9th, then they have to appeal to the Supreme Court. Who will then determine standing and send the case back to the 9th as necessary.

While all this is a bit confusing and not very helpful without a singing and dancing bill to help guide you through the process, it still shows that Walker's stay decision was a long "Fuck you" to the Prop 8 supporters and strongly spells out their lack of standing on the matter.

I'm all but prepping for the "in a 5-4 decision..."/"in a 6-3 decision..." headline now for my eventual blog post about it. Enjoy your window of opportunity while you can, gay readers of my blog.

I do find it amusing that the case is going to be called "Perry v Schwarzenegger" because I like the idea of Arnold's name being enshrined in history books next to Brown v Board. He deserves it after vetoing marriage equality bills twice now.

Do you remember when Prop 8 was first put on the ballot and Arnold said "That will never happen. I will fight it" and then it as put on the ballot and he didn't do shit about it.. and then it passed. Yeah, good times...

I want him to fling a knife through a gay activist, pinning him to a pride float and saying "Stick around". Or perhaps he'll just slide over to a man in a towel on Sauna bench and let out "Hey Bennett, let off some steam"

I guess to his credit he's not defending it and also was part of the petition to the judge to life the injunction. In fact, the fact that the state didn't even bother trying to defend the amendment in court was an important part of the ruling because then the only people fighting for it were the random activists who don't have standing.

Fuck it, I'm just going to go gay marry a Mexican dude for the $$ and citizenship and we'll have gay anchor terrorist babies together. Exactly how? I do not know. But fuck you, America!

Evolution? Ha! Let's Just Believe In Magic Bearded Dude

Evolution? Ha! Let's Just Believe In Magic Bearded Dude

I just never got how anyone could believe that evolution wasn't some sort of given. Of course we evolved over time to better survive. But hey, then there's these kids just causing me all sorts of depression..

It's clear that none of the people in that video is a highly evolved being
"How can, like, an African American person evolve from a white person? We're different skin..."
That just makes my jaw drop. I mean, let's face it. Actually Jeffery, white people evolved from black people. WHAT!? I know. Crazy shit! But I'm glad you asked this Jeffery. You see, when humanity, or the more accurate homo sapiens, began to leave the african continent our white ancestors migrated to places with much colder climates. they spent long hours indoors and eventually lost all pigmentation bla bla bla.

Whities essentially moved farther north and got lighter skin and bigger brains, duh. Or maybe white people just devolved back to the mountain days. And contrary to popular belief, white men also have the biggest cocks. The myth of giant black cock is propagated in order to make black men feel inadequate for not having one themselves.

I guess we should just be thankful that those kids view of evolution is just incomprehensibly muddled and not explicitly racist... for now. As disheartening as it is to see them so uneducated, at least they aren't curb stomping. And that teacher. How did that guy ever get a college degree? I would say that the only thing he's waiting on is for morning to evolve into lunch time.

Maybe those kids should just see this video

But how can those monkeys be walking upright.. Monkeys don't do that..

A science teacher has the responsibility of teaching his students real science regardless of his religious background. If he just keeps perpetuating this stuff the students are never going to learn why science is important. Kids are impressionable and it just takes one awesome teach to get them motivated and on the right track to something that will interest them and educate them at the same time.

Then again, to assume that this teacher or anyone can do that in the course of one semester is a bit of a stretch. That's how long anyone who tried to do that would last there anyway as well as the students just going to another teacher who will just cater to their religious non-evolution mind set.

How on earth do some people stay so dumb their entire life, I will never know.

The only thing we can take away from this is the knowledge that these people are having pleasure hormones and chemsex pumped into their brains. They believe they can actually feel something with their reaching arms. The music adds to the emotional hive mind experience. It's a powerful seductive and very safe comforting feeling.

But it's hard to write a bible belt blog post without going to the tried and true classic... How awesome is god? Well, Timmy, he's an awesome god indeed.

Now that's a song if I ever heard one. When they say "awesome" they "Raise the roof" woop woop!

This puts into perspective that home schooling isn't so bad after all. At least it's not this.

My-My-My Ramona!

My-My-My Ramona!

You know what today is? IT'S THE RELEASE OF SCOTT PILGRIM!! Now, I've seen it way more than enough times now.. So it's nice to finally talk about it.. oh wait, I've already talked a lot about it, right?

So the real question is what do the critics have to say about it?
A relentless barrage of long-form, CGI-enhanced PlayStation battle sequences… all Cera kicking butts and performing impossible stunts with Super Mario Brothers sound effects!
I hope this person is one of those parents that pronounces it "MARE-EEEEE-O"
There's no room for any real growth, just literalized level-ups that bring our hero incrementally closer to his hipster Princess Toadstool!

First of all, I'm not a video gamer, I have discovered more appealing ways to not have a life!
That's a lot of fighting words mixed in there.
A relentless barrage of long-form, CGI-enhanced PlayStation battle sequences… all Cera kicking butts and performing impossible stunts with Super Mario Brothers sound effects!
I mean, it's not like their generation had a film that voiced their interest or anything...
Clearly directed at an audience with generational ADD!

Singularly fixated on video games and shallow visions of women as one-dimensional objects to be either obtained or discarded!
The inner feminist in me disagrees with that completely, but then I realize that later on in this article I'm going to talk a lot about Ramona's hair.. and that, I guess, places the women of this film into the objectification table. I dunno.

Still, those critics were pretty harsh on the movie. To go counter to all that, let's take a look at how NPR did a really good story as to how the critics are getting this all wrong.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World may be one of the most heavily previewed movies in years. Promo screenings, preview screenings, Comic-Con ... it feels at times like everyone who really cares about it has seen it by now — and the reviews have been rolling in for quite some time.

Full disclosure: I think it's great.

I also think it's so heavily stylized that it's bound not to be everyone's favorite film. It's not aiming to be liked by all; it's aiming to be adored by many. If director Edgar Wright weren't okay with the film's being polarizing, he'd have backed off from some of its delightful little quirks.

But I have to say to those reviewing it: what's completely unnecessary is being hostile and condescending about the target audience — and I can say that, because I'm emphatically not part of it.

After referring to the first part of the movie as a "dork-pandering assault," The Boston Phoenix reviewer goes on to say that Michael Cera's performance is "irritating" in part because of "the non-stop Pavlovian laugh track provided by the audience at the screening I attended." (As far as I know, that's a first: "You made the audience laugh, you irritating actor in a comedy, and that's what's wrong with you.")

Let's start with "no possible point of entry to anybody over the age of 30." The very first image in this film — the literally very first thing you see with your eyes and hear with your ears — is the Universal logo, rendered as it would look and sound at around the time I was playing Pitfall! on my extremely sophisticated Atari system in 1983. This is literally the "point of entry" for the entire film, and on average, it's going to mean more to people over 30 than under.

There's no reason to be angry at the people you imagine a movie will make happy just because you didn't like the movie.

Listen: I hated Dinner For Schmucks. I hated it like it kicked my dog and sent me an invoice. But other people in the theater laughed, and every time I have told anyone how much I hated it, I have said, "But please note: other people in the theater were laughing, so maybe it's me."

I don't know who those laughers are. I don't know how they are different from me in age, gender, recreational activity preferences, or general opinions on the matter of whether Steve Carell should wear prosthetic teeth. I don't know. They laughed; I didn't. And if I'd found myself writing, "Carell's performance is irritating partly because of the know-nothing goobers who were laughing the whole time," I hope I would have paused before hitting "publish" and thought, "Perhaps this is not the most helpful thing I could say about this movie."

Hating Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is perfectly fine. It's got a style; you sort of embrace it and dig it or you don't. But when there's too much effort given to tut-tutting the people you imagine to be enjoying it, or declaring and promising that only narrow categories of losers and non-life-havers and other stupid annoying hipsters could possibly be having a good time when you're not, it sounds pinched and ungenerous. And, not to put too fine a point on it, a little bit jealous and fearful of obsolescence.

Here's what I'm saying: I'm a woman, I'm in my late thirties, I can't handle first-person shooters, I'm afraid of Comic-Con, and I really, really liked Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

I hope I'm not, you know, blowing your mind.

So yeah, it's a bit silly to read one review that stated that this was Twilight for boys. What? Can I say go team Kim? Besides that, the ladies in Scott Pilgrim are pretty awesome. You couldn't fault a guy for falling for them. They're not sexually-repressed stalkers either like those vampires up in Seattle.

When I first saw this movie at a test screening some months back I couldn't wait to see it again. Thankfully they did at least four other test screenings that I recall. I thought that the editing, while indeed on the quick cut, and the special effects all over the place where amazing for what story they were trying to tell.

It was an extremely dense movie with a very simple and enjoyable story. I can't say I had more fun in a theater this year than with this movie. Remember, I've seen it multiple times already. While I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people who won't like it, I would still recommend it to anyone.

While I do think they sort of breezed through the whole reasons why they like each other, I think it sort of had to happen considering they were squeezing 6 books, 6.5 battles and a love triangle story into a two hour time span. For the job that they pulled, they did an amazing thing.

Besides that, where the book covers a lot of time during their relationship, I think the movie does an excellent job at showing them discovering each other and themselves in that "feeling out a person" period before you're like "I want to be tied to you completely" sort of way. They're both dealing with their baggage from past relationships as they get into this new one.

That's kind of the major difference between the movie and the books. The book itself chronicles a relationship that, towards the end, goes sour but is saved through the willingness of the two to fess up to their darker sides and admit that they have flaws and face them head on.

The whole movie is in that awkward period where you're spending time with them, getting to know them, and having elation and deflation in turns at the aspects you discover in them. The last seen lays out everything with a heavy suggestion of where the relationship will go from there with the use of the Subspace door. Which was where the relationship started at the beginning of the movie.

Now on to Ramona as a character - The use of her hair color was perfect. Especially considering the comic book is in black and white, it did leave much to the imagination as to what her hair actually looked like with all the dye jobs.

And really, I think that was a major selling point for me digging her character. Call me a sucker for dyed hair. Maybe it's just the fact that it takes me back to my youth and people would use Kool-aid to do a quick dye job.

I love colors that just aren't seen all too often, which is probably the inner rebellious/punk in me just screaming to get out or have that social outcast girlfriend who has nothing better to do than to dye her hair in order to stand out from the rest of the people. I find it pretty damn attractive, truth be told.

I guess it doesn't hurt that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is very attractive already. But having her hair dyed.. yeah, totally. It also served a great purpose in the film as it showed a bit of Ramona's character in dealing with the past. She just likes to move on and change everything when she feels like she's in a corner or uncomfortable. In a sense, Scott's fear that he would be dropped because she is as fickle and unattached to her hair was well marked with the hair comment.

It also made for a great way to remember a character. The doodle that Scott does in trying to locate who this new mystery girl is was pretty awesome. Over all, I'm now 30 and I know those free to fuck up your hair days are behind me. I guess it was just good to see it on a character. I think the last time I saw it was in another favorite film; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

And while some critics may say that this is just a hipster's version of it.. that makes it sounds silly because Eternal Sunshine was made for and by the key demo of the hipster community. I suppose I should just take comfort in the fact that this will open the door to more people willing to dye their hair various colors and just walk in the street as if it was completely normal to do so outside of Halloween.

More power to them and I'll just end this blog with a little piece of awesomeness.
