Well, we all know how that went. I wrote a shit ton of blogs about how you're a fucking moron if you vote Yes on this stupid prop and that you should vote no or I'll track you down and cut off your balls. I was called a fag lover by some random e-mailer. Which confused me because I didn't know someone stupid enough to have that mindset could use a computer. Then again, have I seen what is being posted on the internet lately?

The prop passed and there was protest, marches and El Coyote lost a lot of business, even though they are pretty good and cheap on the wallet. Promises that they were going to take it up with the court systems and well... we have some news on that.. or do we?

SF Mayor Gavin Newsom Asked Court to Delay Prop 8 Ruling

Confidential sources close to San Francisco City Hall told Towleroad's Corey Johnson that the California Supreme Court was prepared to release its opinion on Proposition 8 tomorrow, but decided to delay the ruling after a call from Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom"Newsom reached out to the Supreme Court and asked them to hold off releasing their decision so it did not coincide with the White Night riots," said our source.

As mentioned earlier, a ruling Thursday would have fallen on the 30th anniversary of the San Francisco riots, which were set off when the court handed down the most lenient decision possible (voluntary manslaughter) against Dan White for the murders of supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. The ensuing riots in San Francisco on May 21, 1979 caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

Gavin Newsom's office has issued a release denying the story.

San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty spoke with Towleroad late this afternoon, saying he doubted the claims. Said Dufty: "It is implausible if not impossible to imagine that the Mayor could reach out to the California Supreme Court. Any thinking person would know that he would be radioactive to the justices given his leadership on the issue. His father is a retired federal judge. The Mayor's courage on this issue is unimpeachable. He would not intrude in what we've been waiting for."

Burn Orange County to the motherfucking ground. Clearly this isn't a good sign. How could it be? Gavin asked for it NOT to be announced on the anniversary of the white riots. The california supreme court's decision has to be released within 2 weeks, and if they didn't want it to coincide with the anniversary of huge gay riots it's pretty certain this decision is the one that will get the gays out on the streets.

It was always only a small posibility that the courts would overturn prop 8. However, it is not likely to survive on referendum past 2010 or 2012 at the latest. With the small margin it lost by in 2008, California would have to be resisting the national trends toward support for gay marriage to maintain the "no" majority for that long.

The CA legislature should pass a band-aid law to recognize marriages performed in other states, like NY and DC have. Then CA gays can take some vacations into Iowa, see some corn, and come back married. Oh yeah, Prop 8 made even that illegal...

With Gavin looking to run for Governor after Arnold's run on ruining the state is over, this is going to be a hot issue. Hopefully he can make good on having the doors busted wide open on this whole matter.. So failing on the promise of telling people to like it or not... it may not be the best.

But I hope they do riot. Just because it falls on a different day doesn't mean the outcome will change. Bad news is bad news no matter how you shake it. I hear they're putting barricades in the castro to prepare for the riots. Even if they decided to take this to the supreme court, it'll be a stupid decision.

Not to mention it's a state issue.. But, you know.. if SCOTUS took it up i think it'd be more likely that they'd decide that DOMA prohibited states from recognizing gay marriages and invalidate gay marriages everywhere in all states. It'll be far less painful for everyone to put a measure on the 2010/2012 ballot to repeal it, which is what will happen.

Will it pass again then? Well, that's where I suggest we burn Orange County to the fucking ground. Toss in the Inland Empire in that napalm blast. But just make sure you don't make the same mistake that the 90's riots did. That is mess up your own back yard. West Hollywood is already gearing up for it..

Don’t Trash WeHo When Protesting Prop 8

West Hollywood, California (Thursday, May 21, 2009) - West Hollywood’s intersection of Santa Monica and San Vicente Boulevards has a long tradition of being the gay community’s gathering place, be it in celebration or protest.

Most recently we gathered more than a few times to protest the passage of Proposition 8, which added discrimination to the California Constitution by denying same-sex couples their previously afforded legal right to marry.

Observers believe that the court will uphold the passage of Proposition 8, and we will again take to the streets of West Hollywood.

Unfortunately, there have been rumblings that otherwise responsible, level-headed folk are gearing up to throw bricks.

Equality California (EQCA) sent an E mail yesterday that began, “The decision we have been waiting for is coming any day now. While we hope for the best, we are prepared to do whatever it takes to win marriage back (emphasis added),”

WeHo News contacted EQCA for a clarification, but did not receive a response before deadline.

Anything but non-violent demonstrations would be very bad turns on very many fronts. We have seen time after time a community in outrage destroy their own.

It’s happened here before.

Turning on West Hollywood is not a solution. Harming our businesses, putting our residents and visitors in harm’s way is not going to help. Forcing our Sheriff’s personnel to take drastic action against us only harms a relationship with a very good ally.

In November, 2008 our very own WeHo Sheriff’s personnel did an amazing job working with city staffers and community leaders to keep us safe and protected.

It was not our Sheriff’s that we saw the next day on the news swinging bats. In fact, over those following few weeks we really tapped out their resources with many protests starting elsewhere else and ending up here in West Hollywood.

Yes, if the CA Supreme Court upholds Prop 8 we will be angry. There is still anger in the community four months later.

I hear it, others do too, and yes, we need an outlet for that anger. But let’s not allow the outlet to be violent and self-destructive.

Let’s gather, yell, scream, march, stomp our feet, and other forms of getting the anger out.

Then let us come together as a community and do what we need to do together to turn this tide around.

There have been groups that have sprung into action since Prop 8 passed.

The Courage Campaign and Equal Roots are just two that offer positive, action oriented activities and objectives to help our cause and move us forward.

Equality Central, formerly Equality Network, has been amazing at letting us know about the many events and activities in which to participate. Remember the press coverage?

We have the opportunity to show the world that we can take what comes next.

All struggles like this have had setbacks, Women’s Suffrage and the African American Civil Rights Movement to name just a few.

It does not make it okay, but it should make us stronger, and more determined.

I do hope that we are able to celebrate but if not, let’s be together, be angry together, grieve together, and then move forward together without harming those that help us or are part of our struggle.

Together, we can make it happen wisely and, hopefully, peacefully.

Well, even though I posted about it and the fact that the actual prop said "ELIMINATES RIGHTS.." in the first two words of it, it still passed. What the fuck, California? What the fuck? Seriously, do you not see how we look like the biggest douche bags around voting for Obama and change and yet staying the same god damn way with this stupidity? It's even more a slap in the face because Mormons supported this campaign to end gay marriage rights on the grounds of preserving the family structure... yet how many wives does a typical Mormon have?

I ignored the warnings of those that were in favor of Prop 8. You know the type. The ones that said if they allowed gay marriage than you'll have to teach kids about it in school and where would it end? People fighting for rights to marry their animals. Well I can say with all honesty in a Will Smith voice, The Shit Just Got Real.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised when a news story like this comes out of Japan. But as the saying goes, Denial isn't just a sea in Egypt. So I bring you news of the coming of the end because A Man Wants To Marry A Comic Character. Yeah, that's right. You heard me. And if you didn't click on that link then let me make it clearer. Sometimes I can't decide if we nuked them too much or not enough.

A Japanese man has enlisted hundreds of people in a campaign to allow marriages between humans and cartoon characters, saying he feels more at ease in the "two-dimensional world." Comic books are immensely popular in Japan, with some fictional characters becoming celebrities or even sex symbols.

Marriage is meanwhile on the decline as many young Japanese find it difficult to find life partners. Taichi Takashita launched an online petition aiming for one million signatures to present to the government to establish a law on marriages with cartoon characters.

Within a week he has gathered more than 1,000 signatures through the Internet. "I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world," he wrote.

"However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?"

"For a long time I have only been able to fall in love with two-dimensional people and currently I have someone I really love," one person wrote.

"Even if she is fictional, it is still loving someone. I would like to have legal approval for this system at any cost," the person wrote.

Japan only permits marriage between human men and women and gives no legal recognition to same-sex relationships. Prime Minister Taro Aso is an avid fan of manga and recently complained that he has been too busy to read comic books since taking office.

I should have listened. I should have just voted Yes on prop 8 to protect the sanctity of marriage.... Ok, I would never vote for prop 8 because I don't want to be scum and take away a humans right. But the story is rather scary. Then again, same sex marriages are not accepted there either. Perhaps we should take some note from all this. Allow gay marriages or else people will get rather wacky in the way they tie the knot. And it'll be far worse in terms of ruining your straight marriages.

I had to look around a bunch of articles, more than the normal sane person should look through. Turns out he wants to marry a big breasted chick from Haruhi. Way to reach for the stars, Champ. Oh yes, her character is in high school. Just felt like pointing that out.

How can you marry something that can't consent? The animators would have to animate the character accepting the marriage proposal. I'll bet they have more discriminating tastes than some Japanese loser. Imagine how sad it would be to get rejected by an animated character. The animator would have to spend a lot of time animating your rejection.

Some time back a furry had a wedding ceremony with him and Minerva Mink from Animaniacs. Warner Brother's animation studio got word and put up posters saying something like, "Sorry, fat boy, this Mink is still single!" with a picture of her looking disgusted. I would wager that there isn't enough power ballads in the world to pull yourself out of that sort of rejection. Then again, that had to be one big fucking loser.



If I was the comic author, I'd wait until the man married the character, then a few months down the line reveal that the character has a penis, or HIV. This does bring new meaning to that lame joke Pee Wee always used to shout.

Besides deciding if you want Change you can believe in or some old dude, Californians have another thing to worry about when in that voting booth. How will they circle the other little options. A hot button proposition is Prop 8. You may know this prop as the one that has the most insulting ads on the air paid for those faggots who want you to vote Yes on Prop 8.

I call them faggots not because they are gay. No, I actually don't think I ever called a gay person a faggot. Why? Because I only call people acting faggy a faggot. Like if I ask for extra ketchup at the drive-thru and they say they only can give me two packs. Total fag move. Seriously those of you who are voting YES on Prop 8, stop being such faggots. Why do you have to hate on gays and their interest to get married?

I say if they want to get married, well then, they have every right to be as miserable as straight couples who are married. Look at the latest wave of ads those bicycle riding Mormons have been paying for

I suppose parents should expect more Cinderella/Sleeping beauty fanfics to come out of that. What confuses me is that in the polls, Prop 8 is on the way to getting passed. This troubles me. We're California! What happened to the feel-good, come-as-you-are, live-and-let-live hippie paradise, but apparently we've just swapped one breed of thickheaded intolerant bigot for another. Why California, why will vote for Barack Obama by, like, 16 points but won't pass this? I know that behind the OC curtain there's a lot of Republicans but are there just a lot of socially conservative Democrats hiding in the bushes? I'm sure their in the wastelands of Bakersfield and all of Kern county that aren't embracing any diversity.

Then there's this ad which shows a kid who will clearly be tainted when she's asking for Barbie's "friend" Ellen instead of Ken for Christmas. Certainly can't be responsible for teaching her anything other than the norm of man and wife getting hitched. Oh wait, I know, why not hold off on teaching children about anything at that age. Stop filling their heads with visions of being a princess finding a prince anyway since it's a fucking fairytale that only leads to spoiled brats seen on MTV's My Super 16th.



Clearly marriage should remain something between two plastic dolls. If we let them gays marry, what's next? Dogs marrying Cats? Pigeons marrying squirrels in the park? Oh wait, I already did that last one when I got my mail-order minister license and had a field day at the park. I'm just taking charge and doing my duty in making the park a less sinful place where marriage matters!

I'm pretty serious when I say that the fact that this is even up for debate is pretty disgusting. If you vote yes on 8, you're subhuman. The claim for those supporting a yes on the prop is that:

"Children have a right and are entitled to have a father and a mother."

This is the worst anti gay rhetoric I am gonna hear for a long long time. Yet their website, where you can take a stupid video quiz that is a perfect example of ignorance and being a bigot, they point out this

"Prop. 8 isn't out to remove rights. In America, we all have the "right" to have a relationship. But what about the legal right to marry?"

Seriously. The name of the fucking prop is "ELIMINATES RIGHTS" and people are going to vote yes in droves.? Since when do children have the right to have a father and mother? Is everyone who donated money to Yes on Prop 8 part of a two parent home and not divorced, like 50% of all marriages in America seem to end up? Forget a mother and father. We should just hope that children have two GOOD parents raising them. Who cares if they're both from the same sex. I just want to know where it says "Thou shalt not allow gay marriage" in the bible.

What does another's personal life effect you so much? Is your marriage hanging on a string that their union would destroy the meaning of yours? The no on 8 ads should just be like, Yo idiots 11,000 gay people got married since may, nothing has happened to your sacred marriage since then!

Then there's those who are simply voting Yes on 8 because they don't want the marriage license to suffer the change of having MAN and WIFE written instead having SPOUSE1 and SPOUSE2 written in its spot. Do you honestly give a shit about what your marriage license says? Whens the last time anyone even look at theirs? Does a wife love their husband less if he's "spouse2" on the marriage license instead of man?

Do conservatives even realize the boon that same-sex marriage would have for our current tax system? from a purely fiscal standpoint (and not from a standpoint of a repressed sexual identity crying out to be acknowledged) , it would be stupid not to legalize it

And not to mention the wedding industry. If you're some community college photography or film major I question how you could be voting yes on this. The majority of the work that will keep you alive after you "get out of college" will be from booking wedding jobs as the photographer or camera guy. Your main goal is to try to have more people get married. So limiting how many people can get married... fuckin' stupid!

With marriage comes divorce, roughly half the time. So you tack on all the court fees that the increased divorce rate will bring about and you have yourself a way to get out of this terrible debt our state is in. I got a flier that said:

"Tolreance of gay marriage will become Mandatory. YES ON PROP 8"

As if tolerance is some sort of grave sin. You know what else was made mandatorily tolerated? INTEGRATION, you George-Wallace-Channeling fundie dipshit fucks! If this passes, I hope all gay people in California go completely postal and conduct civil unrest with massive riots. Hope you queer as folk folks take to the streets and make the Rodney King situation look like the summer of love. Make it one fabulous wreckage.
