From Midgets To Mormons - Stay Classy, TLC

From Midgets To Mormons - Stay Classy, TLC

Am I the only one who realizes that TLC has become some evil entity? People complain about MTV no longer showing Music videos as their name implies they would, but at least in the wee hours of the night, if you can't sleep and turn on the TV, they'll be playing some music videos. TLC on the other hand is so far from what it originally started as - The Learning Channel.

Yeah, that's right, it used to be a channel for learning. The only thing that the network has taught me is how low network programming has gone. In fact, you could mark TLC as the opposite of construction learning. If anything, they're spear heading the complete opposite of that and teaching people how to be less educated.

They were all gung-ho with home make overs as well as filling the masses minds into thinking that they to could get into the field of flipping homes and making a quick buck with Trading Spaces, Flip This House and all those other home make overs. Don't try to tell me that it had no hand in the shitty housing market that we currently have.

Then they taught that you can easily crank out a shit ton of kids and not only be praised, but rewarded with your own weekly show for it in John and Kate Plus 8. Why do you think Octomom was shooting for big money when it came to child birth? She was hoping to land that sweet sweet TLC money!

So what's next on the list that TLC wants to destroy our society with? Polygamy! Let me introduce you to their new show....

Sister Wives is a show that airs Sunday nights at 10:00pm on The Learning Channel. It documents the life of a real life polygamist, Kody Brown, living in Lehi, Utah with his three wives and 13 kids. The show will also show his courting of a 4th wife. (rightmost in picture below)

(Sorry ladies, this man is taken...well, kind of)

Wives
Meri

Meri and Kody have been married for 20 years, and is Kody's first wife. Together they have one child, and from what she has said, she has been unable to produce a second child. She comes from a polygamist family herself (her father had 5 wives).

Janelle

Janelle and Kody have been married for 17 years, and have six children together. She seems to be the only wife to have a job outside of the house (although they haven't said where, and I've been unable to discover where), She has made the claim that
"I'm terrified of having an employer find out about my lifestyle in case they have prejudices."
Well then, good thing you went on TV to tell the world about your situation, then, huh? In any case she works long hours and she does not come from a polygamist family, but was friends with Kody and Meri for years before deciding marrying a married man sounded like a damn fine idea.

Christine

Christine and Kody have been married for 16 years, and they have 5 children together, with one more on the way. She seems the craziest of the wives, for several reasons. First off is the way she names her kids (all other children seem to have normal names): Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwenelyn, Ysabel, and Truely. Also, she says that she wanted to be the third wife of someone very early on in life. She wouldn't date anyone who didn't fit "the lifestyle", and felt being the second wife would be too awkward. But third wife is just right.

That caught me off guard but then I remembered that one girl I dated made the claim that she wanted to have two or three divorces by the time she was thirty. So I guess I can buy that Christine has a goal and, well, we all need goals in life, right?

Lifestyle
Now I've never was much into Big Love, but from what I recall it seems like it got it nailed down right on what a modern polygamists family is like. Their lifestyle is pretty strange. They live in a giant house that is technically three houses connected inside. Kody has a schedule with each wife, whether it be for dates or more intimate encounters. They also send their kids to a polygamist school, whatever the hell that entails.

I'm not exactly sure if I figured out what kind of job this guy could possibly have to support 20 people. I heard he was an advertising salesman and his second wife works (still a mystery as to where?). So I guess he's just very good at his job? Maybe he has some good investments. Then again, I guess he also has a pretty sweet contract with some TV network going on.

The end of the first episode revealed that Kody is now courting a fourth wife, Robin, who already has three children of her own. (I'm assuming she's a widow? Can't imagine she's divorced.)

Is this legal?
Brown and his wives have claimed they participated with the show to make the public more aware of polygamist families and to combat societal prejudices. Brown has claimed his polygamist arrangement is legal because he is only legally married to one woman, and the other marriages are spiritual unions.

Here's the thing, though. Bigamy is a felony in this country. Utah is a common law marriage state. Granted, I think you have to file a request to have said common law marriage recognized, but this is bound to make the police antsy. It would be like if marijuana is decriminalized and a cop doesn't go after you for smoking a joint, but then you start blowing smoke in his face saying, "Whatever, I can do this if I want." Said cop is going to find a way to go after you.

And it seems the police are already doing just that. Just one day after the premiere of this show, Lehi police announced they were conducting a bigamy investigation into the family.
A very unconventional Utah family is thrust into the national spotlight tonight in the premiere of TLC's "Sister Wives". One man is married to four women, and he fathered more than a dozen children. The show follows a polygamist family as they pursue their fourth sister wife. But, polygamy is illegal in America.

Greg Skordas is a local defense attorney who is studying up on the crime of polygamy in the state of Utah.

“If people are flaunting polygamy, a very serious crime in their jurisdiction, they’ll do something about it,” says Skordas.

The Brown family is taking their unconventional family public. I caught up with Kody and his 4 wives on Friday while they were talking about their new reality show, and Kody calls 4 different women his wife.

“I wouldn’t want to be without any one of them,” says Kody Brown.

There is video of what the Brown’s call a spiritual wedding ceremony between Kody and his fourth wife Robyn.

“If they portray a marriage, and the person is already married, then I think that’s evidence the person is committing the crime of polygamy,” says Skordas.

Kody claims to have been married to his first three wives for the past 16 years, and he has children with each of them. Skordas says this will make it easier to prosecute him.

“We normally do recognize common law marriage. Does the couple have children? Do they do things together as husband and wife? After a number of years, the court will recognize a common law marriage,” says Skordas.

And not one of these women or the man they say they are married to is shying away from showing the world how four women can be married to the same man.

“If I was advising this family about this TV show, I would certainly say, don’t flaunt polygamy in this state at this time,” says Skordas.

Skordas believes the Attorney General and the state’s attorney in Utah county is watching this show closely, and probably subpoenaing taped interviews of the adults.
Essentially because of Utah's special history with polygamy, they go after this type of stuff. If this guy was in Montana he would probably be getting away with it.

Is this right?
Well, that's the question, isn't it? On the surface, I feel that if children aren't being abused in some way, and no women are forced into it, then who am I to judge? The wives are all very plain. I guess I should say that whatever float your boat and doesn't infringe on the lives of others should be alright. Though I don't see anything illegally wrong with this situation. There's got to be something wrong with a woman's self esteem if she feels that she only deserves a fraction of a relationship though.

I guess what it boils down to for me into seeing this as creepy is that these bigamy cases are always one guy with a bunch of women and that has some kind of icky undertones regarding women. I don't want to doubt that they love each other and all that, but I think there's a difference between polyamory and polygamy, and that's the polygamy always means women are kind of like a collection to the husband.

I guess that's what bothers me the most. No matter how much they say that they're increasing their love instead of dividing it, the fact is that these women are expected to share one guy and love it, and he's free to go out and add more women whenever he feels like it. I realize feminism has no place in this home, but why can't the women go out and increase the love by finding another husband to come into the fold?

If I could air my dirty laundry out here again, I dated a girl once who was extremely into the idea that they were poly-amorous. So even though I wanted to get serious, she kept it at bay. Eventually wanting some double standard in that she wanted a one-sided open relationship. I was having none of that bullshit and dropped it like it was hot. While I get the whole notion of the family style love here, these women need to realize that they aren't getting much more than a piece of the guy when they really deserve far more attention.

Even in the show itself it's as if they are setting up the happy prologue to a train wreck down the road to Kate Gosselin size proportions. As soon as one of the wives admitted to being jealous, I was like "Okay, here comes the car accident!"

When watching the interviews with the wives, something just seems terribly off about all of them. It's as if the first two seem to be crawling at the walls, and the third seems to be one step away from just cracking and killing them all. I guess the majority of people will be watching to see when that happens.

I suppose I should put in a joke here about how moronic it is to want more wives. I mean, most guys don't even want the one they got stuck with. Okay, I can check that off the list of requirements when talking about multiple wives.

TLC, don't ever stop being a dysfunctional network version of the Jerry Springer show.

Breaking News! Al and Tipper Gore decide to separate after 40 years of marriage!
Al and Tipper Gore Separate

Al Gore and his wife of 40 years, Tipper, are separating.

The couple wrote an email that found its way to Politico, saying, "We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate."

The email continues, "This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration."

The couple has 4 kids.

Roughly one year ago today -- the couple's daughter Kristin Gore filed for divorce from her husband Paul Cusack.
and the politico article mentioned above:
Al and Tipper Gore, whose playful romance enlivened Washington and the campaign trail for a quarter century, have decided to separate after 40 years of marriage, the couple told friends Tuesday.

In an “Email from Al and Tipper Gore,” the couple said: “We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate.

“This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.”

The e-mail was obtained by POLITICO and confirmed by Kalee Kreider of the office of Al and Tipper Gore. Kreider said there would be no further comment.

Tipper Gore is a professional photographer who in 1996 published “Picture This, A Visual Diary,” which she called “a personal photographic representation of life as wife of the vice president.”

She often took pictures at campaign events and behind the scenes when her husband ran for president in 2000. In recent years, she often accompanied him on speaking and book-signing engagements as he continued his quest for action on "the climate crisis."

During Bill Clinton's presidency, the then-vice president and his wife donned costumes for an annual Halloween party that became a Washington tradition.

The Gores, who have four children and live in Tennessee, marked their 40th wedding anniversary two weeks ago.

The Gores both grew up in the Washington area. They met at a high-school graduation dance and were married at the National Cathedral on May 19, 1970, according to Tipper Gore’s White House biography.

Ah yes. Another pointless celebrity bullshit news piece that will succeed in distracting Americans from real news stories. The oilcam was pretty boring after all and we can't watch Israel shoot civilians live anymore, so I guess it was only a matter of time before we got one of these shocker CNN headline news fluff pieces.

I say fuck that, what's Lady GaGa doing? This is just more proof that elitist liberals don't hold our average American family values! Surely I need to vote Republican next election cycle or my good ol' American family values will be tossed out the window.

I find it funny that in the news story he treats the Climate Crisis as if it's some soft drink or something that he's plugging on the talk show circuit. How dare he try to convince us things are heating up on the global scale when it's clear it's not even true of his own love life. Bazinga!

The divorce is probably because he's fat as fuck now. Just look at how he ballooned up after he won the election that was stolen from him. Imagine having to go down on a dude and his belly is, like, pressed up against your forehead. I'm also sure his high horse on global warming did it in. Women like guys that have hobbies, not obsessions. Sorry Al.

I think he'll be okay though. Somehow he'll be able to find a nice girl that shares his concern for dolphins and the environment out of all the college-age environmental activist in the entire world. The dude was probably banging half of green peace anyway. Tipper was totally holding him back. If I could, I would totally take him out for a drink and give him a pep talk.

The real question now is who's going to get the internet in the divorce? I mean, I sure hope that my bittorrent sites are located on Al's half of the internet.

People Who Have More Sex Than You

People Who Have More Sex Than You

For the next 30 days this couple will have more sex than you
THE 30-DAY SEX CHALLENGE.
Have sex with your partner every day for consecutive 30 days.

COUPLE:
Shawn Scott, age 32, is a partner in a computer firm.
Lauren Scott, age 29, owns her own company throwing celebrity charity events.
Lauren also stays at home with their 2 and half year old son Ayden.
Shawn and Lauren are from Granbury, TX and have been together for 13 years and married for 8 years.

OBJECTIVE:
Spicing it up in the bedroom.
"We got offered the chance to do the 30 days and thought why not how fun!!! We are excited about the adventure and making it fun all the way around! It will be interesting how it turns out as far as keeping it out of just a routine and making it exciting and fun! We also understand how the rut of everyday life takes a toll on your sex life and this way we are committing to focus on bringing it back in!! Should be an interesting 30 days..." says Lauren.

It is an exciting offer to get from a TV News program, the chance to have sex with your wife, everyday, for 30 days. I mean, how do you keep the spice in your sex life after you were boning for all those years and after 13 whole years. Thankfully the have decided to share this exciting journey in their sex life with all of us.

Day 1 posted:

DAY 1: So after a long day of shawn at the office me here with ayden and finishing proposals we are excited to get our first of 30 days going. Isnt it funny how you get into your routine of life and dont even focus on your bedroom. Well no more all day long I have been reminded by either people on facebook, friends and family that today is the beginning of our journey!!! So Dishes done, baby down, lets start this off with a bang!!! Literally wish us luck!!
First off.. DON'T FUCKING USE LITERALLY WRONG, YOU WORTHLESS BITCH! As you can see all the dishes are done and all of their friends and family are very excited they they will be engaging in intercourse tonight. The important thing is to remain accountable to your friends and family that you are having sex every night for 30 days, daily reminders will help.

Day 2 posted:

DAY 2: Well everything's on the up and up ....literally!!!! Great day and still on track! 2 days down 28 days to go!!! Just about everyone knows about this little experiment now! We seem to get two different responses from people...at first it is, "That's awesome...more couples should do it!" Or we get, "Are you crazy? I cant believe your doing that for TV!!" Well, we are and I must say...it's fun!!

Can you believe it, the two of them have had sex twice! In two days! Can they keep this up? Who knows! But it should be an exciting 30 days for all of us. Am I the only one who lost his boner the moment she abuses the hell out of the word literally and misuses it.

Just think of this whole idea. Once a day for thirty days... How whacky! Maybe this was just one of their ways to trick the other person into period sex. Most of all, does anal sex still count as sex for this challenge?

I mean, is it that big of a deal to have sex every day? I must be some sort of sex addict because I could really go for it twice a day. What about this is news worthy? I can't even buy that it's cause they're "middle aged" because they're 32 and 29. I just turned 30 and I think I'm more in the mood than I ever was. This guy is a complete pussy for not wanting to take his wife daily already.
Isnt it funny how you get into your routine of life and dont even focus on your bedroom.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't forcing yourself to have sex every day for 30 days as part of a "challenge" make sex become routine? There has to be nothing less sexy than being obliged to have sex. Don't get me wrong, having sex on a daily basis is not abnormal. In fact, usually younger people in relationships have sex before they go to sleep... almost every night. They should have chosen a 50+ year old couple or they should have chosen a couple that was on the brick of a bitter divorce and never had sex to see what happened there.

The couple already has sex every other day according to the news report. So it's going to be really awesome to have forced sex for the first week. You know, before it starts to get routine and like a chore to do, then when she can't get wet anymore at the thought of his cock probing her uninterested vagina, I'm sure it's just going to feel more and more like rape. My, doesn't that sound like a hoot, dude. Where do I sign up for this?

Goddamn these people are vanilla as all hell. That guy has to resort to a contest to get laid. Most of the pictures of just her are when she's in the kitchen, and when it's just him, his fat ass is on the computer. Keep living that dream, you incompatible fuckers. They really found the most mediocre, shlubby looking people they could and gave them this weird little indecent proposal. They don't even win anything except boring vanilla sex for a full month.

Then again, maybe I'm being a little too hard on them. Assuming that 2 year old is a lot of trouble to take care of and between that and a full time job, I suppose they would be amazingly tired to get sexual nightly. I feel bad for the kid. In 10 years he's going to be looking up his parents on whatever future Google search engine there is at the time and blow his brains out with a laser gun when he finds this.
"Breaking news, local man finds courage to bone his wife more than once a month, more at six."
I don't know about you, but I'd divorce someone who thought whipped cream and a french maid outfit fell under the category of "mixing it up." I don't mean to vilify vanilla sex because it's great and all, but it's not something that warrants a blog or contest on the weird, voyeuristic local news channel.

To be honest, this is a pussy challenge. How about you go 365 days of straight sex for your husband's birthday
When her husband turned 40, Charla Muller couldn't decide what to give him, so she offered him guaranteed sex every night for a whole year. Could they manage it? And what would be the effect on their marriage?
My god, it sounds like a pitch for a new sitcom on CBS this fall, right after Two and a Half Men! Tune in! It's quotes like this that get me.
"What about spontaneity? "I felt the opposite. I felt the pressure came off. He no longer thought 'Tonight is a big deal, the only night we'll have sex this month is now, it's got to be really special.'"
Jeez... Seriously, what the fuck? As if I didn't have enough worries and reason to not want to ever get married. This idea that sex can get boring just screams that you're with the wrong person. You know how you can be incompatible with another person due to personality quirks and lifestyle? Well you can be that way sexually if you two don't meet eye to eye.. or at least genitalia to genitalia. Then it's bound to lead to an unhappy situation.

Regardless of how busy your life is, a sex less relationship is not one anyone should be in. Hell, just look at Cosmo's Sex Position of the Day guide as it has many illustrated positions for the less creative fools out there. But by no means call this some sort of ground breaking marriage challenge.

If I'm ever in the situation where I'm going to the Madonna Hotel or role playing for anything more than something it gets me off and actually trying to use it as a method to recharge my relationship's sex life.. Shoot me. Please, just shoot me. Especially in the face with a 12 gauge shot gun if it's being blogged about so the world can see how "kinky" I am with my partner as we try on something bought at *gasp* victoria's secret.

Share The Moment...

Share The Moment...

Can you feel it in the air? You know what I'm talking about. It's no lie that around this time of year with a whole new year beginning and this one coming to a close, as well as the ideas of what you're going to give your long time girlfriend for Christmas that will totally live up to the hype of the new car and DeBeers ads have left you mirroring your life to, it's about that time of year that is only second to Valentines day in terms of engagements.

If you will join me now on one mans path into this time honored tradition in his own sick and twisted method with this little drive they are about to take out in the scenic roads of America.

Awwww. Jennifer must think she's on a normal drive till she sees a sign that has her name on it...

Awwwwwwww! How romantic! I wonder what her answer will be. Maybe it'll be a ye....

Wait a minute, what's this next sign?

Whhhhhaaaaaa?

BAM! Damn, this isn't very nice of a thing to do and then drop that bomb shell on them...

Oh... there's more?

Well.. damn. That's not very nice at all. That was actually rather mean. Come on dude, that's not very Holiday in spirit!

But you get the idea. Perhaps you shouldn't propose or expect that blood diamond this time of year. It's really not that practical and finding a good present is tough enough, let alone to live to the hype of a ring is really silly. So if you're thinking of hinting towards that with your significant other, try to curb it or hold off a little.

Seasons Greetings! Well.. not for Jennifer. She better start packing.

They're Going To Riot, Whether You Like It or Not

They're Going To Riot, Whether You Like It or Not

Gavin Gavin Gavin. You remember that phrase? If you don't know what I'm talking about, click away....

I have to say, Gavin. You were bold and I liked your Moxie but you know what they did? They took your words and they ran with them. When Prop 8 came around to voting they used your words and they made the morons vote Yes on Prop 8...

Well, we all know how that went. I wrote a shit ton of blogs about how you're a fucking moron if you vote Yes on this stupid prop and that you should vote no or I'll track you down and cut off your balls. I was called a fag lover by some random e-mailer. Which confused me because I didn't know someone stupid enough to have that mindset could use a computer. Then again, have I seen what is being posted on the internet lately?

The prop passed and there was protest, marches and El Coyote lost a lot of business, even though they are pretty good and cheap on the wallet. Promises that they were going to take it up with the court systems and well... we have some news on that.. or do we?

SF Mayor Gavin Newsom Asked Court to Delay Prop 8 Ruling
Confidential sources close to San Francisco City Hall told Towleroad's Corey Johnson that the California Supreme Court was prepared to release its opinion on Proposition 8 tomorrow, but decided to delay the ruling after a call from Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Newsom"Newsom reached out to the Supreme Court and asked them to hold off releasing their decision so it did not coincide with the White Night riots," said our source.

As mentioned earlier, a ruling Thursday would have fallen on the 30th anniversary of the San Francisco riots, which were set off when the court handed down the most lenient decision possible (voluntary manslaughter) against Dan White for the murders of supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. The ensuing riots in San Francisco on May 21, 1979 caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

UPDATE: Towleroad received this tip from a highly credible source who did the interview on the condition that they remain anonymous. We have been working to get additional sources.

Gavin Newsom's office has issued a release denying the story.

San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty spoke with Towleroad late this afternoon, saying he doubted the claims. Said Dufty: "It is implausible if not impossible to imagine that the Mayor could reach out to the California Supreme Court. Any thinking person would know that he would be radioactive to the justices given his leadership on the issue. His father is a retired federal judge. The Mayor's courage on this issue is unimpeachable. He would not intrude in what we've been waiting for."
Burn Orange County to the motherfucking ground. Clearly this isn't a good sign. How could it be? Gavin asked for it NOT to be announced on the anniversary of the white riots. The california supreme court's decision has to be released within 2 weeks, and if they didn't want it to coincide with the anniversary of huge gay riots it's pretty certain this decision is the one that will get the gays out on the streets.

It was always only a small posibility that the courts would overturn prop 8. However, it is not likely to survive on referendum past 2010 or 2012 at the latest. With the small margin it lost by in 2008, California would have to be resisting the national trends toward support for gay marriage to maintain the "no" majority for that long.

The CA legislature should pass a band-aid law to recognize marriages performed in other states, like NY and DC have. Then CA gays can take some vacations into Iowa, see some corn, and come back married. Oh yeah, Prop 8 made even that illegal...

Chuck Lorre is 100%, Everyone should have the right to be miserable.

With Gavin looking to run for Governor after Arnold's run on ruining the state is over, this is going to be a hot issue. Hopefully he can make good on having the doors busted wide open on this whole matter.. So failing on the promise of telling people to like it or not... it may not be the best.

But I hope they do riot. Just because it falls on a different day doesn't mean the outcome will change. Bad news is bad news no matter how you shake it. I hear they're putting barricades in the castro to prepare for the riots. Even if they decided to take this to the supreme court, it'll be a stupid decision.

This is what Google image gave me when I asked for Gay Marriage Riots.. I can't wait!

Not to mention it's a state issue.. But, you know.. if SCOTUS took it up i think it'd be more likely that they'd decide that DOMA prohibited states from recognizing gay marriages and invalidate gay marriages everywhere in all states. It'll be far less painful for everyone to put a measure on the 2010/2012 ballot to repeal it, which is what will happen.

Will it pass again then? Well, that's where I suggest we burn Orange County to the fucking ground. Toss in the Inland Empire in that napalm blast. But just make sure you don't make the same mistake that the 90's riots did. That is mess up your own back yard. West Hollywood is already gearing up for it..

Don’t Trash WeHo When Protesting Prop 8
Thursday, May 21, 2009 – Op-Ed By Sam Borelli, West Hollywood

West Hollywood, California (Thursday, May 21, 2009) - West Hollywood’s intersection of Santa Monica and San Vicente Boulevards has a long tradition of being the gay community’s gathering place, be it in celebration or protest.

Most recently we gathered more than a few times to protest the passage of Proposition 8, which added discrimination to the California Constitution by denying same-sex couples their previously afforded legal right to marry.

Observers believe that the court will uphold the passage of Proposition 8, and we will again take to the streets of West Hollywood.

Unfortunately, there have been rumblings that otherwise responsible, level-headed folk are gearing up to throw bricks.

Equality California (EQCA) sent an E mail yesterday that began, “The decision we have been waiting for is coming any day now. While we hope for the best, we are prepared to do whatever it takes to win marriage back (emphasis added),”

WeHo News contacted EQCA for a clarification, but did not receive a response before deadline.

Anything but non-violent demonstrations would be very bad turns on very many fronts. We have seen time after time a community in outrage destroy their own.

It’s happened here before.

Turning on West Hollywood is not a solution. Harming our businesses, putting our residents and visitors in harm’s way is not going to help. Forcing our Sheriff’s personnel to take drastic action against us only harms a relationship with a very good ally.

In November, 2008 our very own WeHo Sheriff’s personnel did an amazing job working with city staffers and community leaders to keep us safe and protected.

It was not our Sheriff’s that we saw the next day on the news swinging bats. In fact, over those following few weeks we really tapped out their resources with many protests starting elsewhere else and ending up here in West Hollywood.

Yes, if the CA Supreme Court upholds Prop 8 we will be angry. There is still anger in the community four months later.

I hear it, others do too, and yes, we need an outlet for that anger. But let’s not allow the outlet to be violent and self-destructive.

Let’s gather, yell, scream, march, stomp our feet, and other forms of getting the anger out.

Then let us come together as a community and do what we need to do together to turn this tide around.

There have been groups that have sprung into action since Prop 8 passed.

The Courage Campaign and Equal Roots are just two that offer positive, action oriented activities and objectives to help our cause and move us forward.

Equality Central, formerly Equality Network, has been amazing at letting us know about the many events and activities in which to participate. Remember the press coverage?

We have the opportunity to show the world that we can take what comes next.

All struggles like this have had setbacks, Women’s Suffrage and the African American Civil Rights Movement to name just a few.

It does not make it okay, but it should make us stronger, and more determined.

I do hope that we are able to celebrate but if not, let’s be together, be angry together, grieve together, and then move forward together without harming those that help us or are part of our struggle.

Together, we can make it happen wisely and, hopefully, peacefully.

Sam Borelli serves on the West Hollywood Public Safety Commission and writes a blog called Walking WeHo, from which this op-ed is republished with Mr. Borelli’s express permission.

gay rights or gay riots is a damn good slogan

Happy D-Day

Happy D-Day

How did you celebrate D-day? I'm not talking about the day we took to the beaches and kicked some Nazi ass. I'm talking about the day you dumped that excess baggage and filed for a divorce. I have never had the distinct pleasure of being married and thus, never had the chance to file divorce papers to anyone ever. But if I do ever find myself in the position of getting a divorce I suppose January would be a good month to do it. Seems that everyone else is, why not I?

This report from The First Wives World shows that divorce is on a rise during this time of year and for good reason.

It has long been known that January is the month that most people divorce. With that in mind, lawyers in London actually picked a specific date for D-Day — as in, divorce day: The first Monday after children return to school. In England, that will be January 12th.

In the U.S., according to some experts, divorce filings will see a dramatic spike this week — the first full week of January.

Why wait until January vs earlier?

Logic is that no one wants to ruin a child's Christmas and if you divorce over the holidays, the holidays will then be always associated with a traumatic event.

Although some in the U.S. believe that the crumbling economy and falling housing prices will delay divorces, a lawyer in England thinks otherwise.

"Many are concerned that divorcing when house prices are plummeting means they’ll lose a great deal of money from what they view as an inevitable sale, says Shelley Hesford, a solicitor in Cheshire who spoke with the London Telegraph. So instead of waiting for prices to rise, which could take years, some couples will opt to cut their losses sooner vs. later. The estimate is that every 10 percent drop in housing prices leads to a 4 percent rise in divorce.

Tight money over the holidays may reinforce that thinking.

In addition to sticking it out over the holidays for the sake of the children, there are other factors contributing to early January being D-Day time:

• Lawyers and counselors take vacations over the holidays, courts are closed, and couples can’t file for divorce.
• Northern winters are bleak, especially after Christmas; forced togetherness indoors drives couples nuts.
• One more pair of gloves for Christmas was the final straw.
• Holiday partying led to a drunken holiday flirtation... with someone else.
• You made a New Years resolution not to have another holiday with him.
• The hangover was bad, but not as bad as facing that first breakfast of the new year with someone you no longer love.

Another candidate for record numbers of decisions to get divorced: we say January 20, after the three-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. By that time, children have gotten back into the rhythm of school and life; they have their friends around them, so that a family breakup is less jarring.

One positive fact: appointments for marriage counselors also go up in January, meaning that some couples decide to work on their relationship, and not give up – yet. The other top times for filing for divorce are at the end of the school year, and at the end of summer vacation.

What is important is that, if and when you decide the marriage is over, telling the childrenmust be done carefully, whether they are preschoolers, or teenagers.

While most people resolve to lose weight for the new year, it turns out that for others the weight to be lost is that of an unfulfilling marriage.

The whole peak after MLK day is a bit odd. But if you think about it for a second it's perfectly clear. Many people have a dream and that dream does not include being with that loser anymore. No such morbid item that you could get gunned down from any balcony on any given day. Might as well make the most out of the time you have on this third rock from the sun.

On the other hand of things I'm wondering if you didn't wait too long to pull the trigger. It's already 2009, you're in another tax cycle. So you're stuck with filing with them in your taxes because you didn't dump their ass before the 31st. Way to go. Guess water does seek its own level, now doesn't it, loser!

I'll let it slide this once. I get what these folks are trying to do. They're trying to start the new year off right by not breaking those resolutions. That is, to not sleep with that cheating/worthless/changed person this year. So dump them off and get the new year started off right with someone new... all at the same time as not hurting the kids feelings. Well, best of luck to you. I'm sort of tempted to get married myself so I can take part of this next year. I mean.. it sure sounds like fun!

Then there's always that classic joke which I've never really seemed to get but I always fake that chuckle whenever I do hear it "Why does divorce cost so much? Cause it's worth it." Maybe one day I'll get it... Maybe one day indeed.

Gavin Newsom, What Slippery Slope Now Open

Gavin Newsom, What Slippery Slope Did You Open?

Well, even though I posted about it and the fact that the actual prop said "ELIMINATES RIGHTS.." in the first two words of it, it still passed. What the fuck, California? What the fuck? Seriously, do you not see how we look like the biggest douche bags around voting for Obama and change and yet staying the same god damn way with this stupidity? It's even more a slap in the face because Mormons supported this campaign to end gay marriage rights on the grounds of preserving the family structure... yet how many wives does a typical Mormon have?

I ignored the warnings of those that were in favor of Prop 8. You know the type. The ones that said if they allowed gay marriage than you'll have to teach kids about it in school and where would it end? People fighting for rights to marry their animals. Well I can say with all honesty in a Will Smith voice, The Shit Just Got Real.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised when a news story like this comes out of Japan. But as the saying goes, Denial isn't just a sea in Egypt. So I bring you news of the coming of the end because A Man Wants To Marry A Comic Character. Yeah, that's right. You heard me. And if you didn't click on that link then let me make it clearer. Sometimes I can't decide if we nuked them too much or not enough.

A Japanese man has enlisted hundreds of people in a campaign to allow marriages between humans and cartoon characters, saying he feels more at ease in the "two-dimensional world." Comic books are immensely popular in Japan, with some fictional characters becoming celebrities or even sex symbols.

Marriage is meanwhile on the decline as many young Japanese find it difficult to find life partners. Taichi Takashita launched an online petition aiming for one million signatures to present to the government to establish a law on marriages with cartoon characters.

Within a week he has gathered more than 1,000 signatures through the Internet. "I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world," he wrote.

"However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?"

"For a long time I have only been able to fall in love with two-dimensional people and currently I have someone I really love," one person wrote.

"Even if she is fictional, it is still loving someone. I would like to have legal approval for this system at any cost," the person wrote.

Japan only permits marriage between human men and women and gives no legal recognition to same-sex relationships. Prime Minister Taro Aso is an avid fan of manga and recently complained that he has been too busy to read comic books since taking office.
I should have listened. I should have just voted Yes on prop 8 to protect the sanctity of marriage.... Ok, I would never vote for prop 8 because I don't want to be scum and take away a humans right. But the story is rather scary. Then again, same sex marriages are not accepted there either. Perhaps we should take some note from all this. Allow gay marriages or else people will get rather wacky in the way they tie the knot. And it'll be far worse in terms of ruining your straight marriages.

I had to look around a bunch of articles, more than the normal sane person should look through. Turns out he wants to marry a big breasted chick from Haruhi. Way to reach for the stars, Champ. Oh yes, her character is in high school. Just felt like pointing that out.

The blushing(?) bride

Must be a slow news day. This is probably the least news worthy thing I've ever read. Though I do remember that one time when I read the article about the woman who married the Berlin Wall. Yeah, that was strange and long before gay marriage ever was cool to walk down the isle.

Marriages usually have to be consensual. So... Unless of course her knocked her up, the there could be a shotgun wedding, but it is paper. You can't accidentally impregnate paper. Not to mention how do you even talk about how you two met?

"Hey baby...you're a very sexy line segment! Let's get married and have pixels."

His wild dreams come true! 3D!

I wonder, if he does marry her, will his job offer him certain health insurance benefits that come with married couples? Ha, I'm just kidding. This prick has to be unemployed. Silly otaku.

This scares me because I never thought I would find a group creepier than the real doll fuckers on the internet. But thank you once again, internets. You find me another reason to hate humanity. Real doll fuckers at least have something tangible to have sex with. You cartoon lovers... you have a piece of paper.

Thank you Cool World. See what you
have done to society?

How can you marry something that can't consent? The animators would have to animate the character accepting the marriage proposal. I'll bet they have more discriminating tastes than some Japanese loser. Imagine how sad it would be to get rejected by an animated character. The animator would have to spend a lot of time animating your rejection.

Some time back a furry had a wedding ceremony with him and Minerva Mink from Animaniacs. Warner Brother's animation studio got word and put up posters saying something like, "Sorry, fat boy, this Mink is still single!" with a picture of her looking disgusted. I would wager that there isn't enough power ballads in the world to pull yourself out of that sort of rejection. Then again, that had to be one big fucking loser.

If I was the comic author, I'd wait until the man married the character, then a few months down the line reveal that the character has a penis, or HIV. This does bring new meaning to that lame joke Pee Wee always used to shout.

" Oh man this is such a good sandwich. I love this sandwich"
"if you love it so much why dont you marry it nyaa"

Now you have to stop to think for a couple of seconds if you're willing to commit to it.
My only warning is this. He better keep his dirty hands off Erin Esurance! She only finds those low low auto rates for me and me only! I really shouldn't be surprised by these 2D-3D relationships. They've been around for a while now.

Mommy, I Can Marry A Princess!

Mommy, I Can Marry A Princess!

Besides deciding if you want Change you can believe in or some old dude, Californians have another thing to worry about when in that voting booth. How will they circle the other little options. A hot button proposition is Prop 8. You may know this prop as the one that has the most insulting ads on the air paid for those faggots who want you to vote Yes on Prop 8.

I call them faggots not because they are gay. No, I actually don't think I ever called a gay person a faggot. Why? Because I only call people acting faggy a faggot. Like if I ask for extra ketchup at the drive-thru and they say they only can give me two packs. Total fag move. Seriously those of you who are voting YES on Prop 8, stop being such faggots. Why do you have to hate on gays and their interest to get married?

I say if they want to get married, well then, they have every right to be as miserable as straight couples who are married. Look at the latest wave of ads those bicycle riding Mormons have been paying for

Pony up the cash for a private school or shut the fuck up!

I suppose parents should expect more Cinderella/Sleeping beauty fanfics to come out of that. What confuses me is that in the polls, Prop 8 is on the way to getting passed. This troubles me. We're California! What happened to the feel-good, come-as-you-are, live-and-let-live hippie paradise, but apparently we've just swapped one breed of thickheaded intolerant bigot for another. Why California, why will vote for Barack Obama by, like, 16 points but won't pass this? I know that behind the OC curtain there's a lot of Republicans but are there just a lot of socially conservative Democrats hiding in the bushes? I'm sure their in the wastelands of Bakersfield and all of Kern county that aren't embracing any diversity.

Then there's this ad which shows a kid who will clearly be tainted when she's asking for Barbie's "friend" Ellen instead of Ken for Christmas. Certainly can't be responsible for teaching her anything other than the norm of man and wife getting hitched. Oh wait, I know, why not hold off on teaching children about anything at that age. Stop filling their heads with visions of being a princess finding a prince anyway since it's a fucking fairytale that only leads to spoiled brats seen on MTV's My Super 16th.

Clearly marriage should remain something between two plastic dolls. If we let them gays marry, what's next? Dogs marrying Cats? Pigeons marrying squirrels in the park? Oh wait, I already did that last one when I got my mail-order minister license and had a field day at the park. I'm just taking charge and doing my duty in making the park a less sinful place where marriage matters!

I'm pretty serious when I say that the fact that this is even up for debate is pretty disgusting. If you vote yes on 8, you're subhuman. The claim for those supporting a yes on the prop is that:
"Children have a right and are entitled to have a father and a mother."
This is the worst anti gay rhetoric I am gonna hear for a long long time. Yet their website, where you can take a stupid video quiz that is a perfect example of ignorance and being a bigot, they point out this
"Prop. 8 isn't out to remove rights. In America, we all have the "right" to have a relationship. But what about the legal right to marry?"
Seriously. The name of the fucking prop is "ELIMINATES RIGHTS" and people are going to vote yes in droves.? Since when do children have the right to have a father and mother? Is everyone who donated money to Yes on Prop 8 part of a two parent home and not divorced, like 50% of all marriages in America seem to end up? Forget a mother and father. We should just hope that children have two GOOD parents raising them. Who cares if they're both from the same sex. I just want to know where it says "Thou shalt not allow gay marriage" in the bible.

Forget learning about Marriage, how about they learn tolerance?

It's sad that it only takes 50%+1 is all that required for a constitutional amendment. California is a big state with plenty of good spots. But then there's the spots that aren't the major cities between L.A. and S.F. with plenty of room for idiots. Way to run the state into the ground. We used to be ahead of the pack in accepting change. California used to be cool, what happened to you Cali? What happened?

What does another's personal life effect you so much? Is your marriage hanging on a string that their union would destroy the meaning of yours? The no on 8 ads should just be like, Yo idiots 11,000 gay people got married since may, nothing has happened to your sacred marriage since then!

MLK's Dream was for fucktards like this to go to hell.

Then there's those who are simply voting Yes on 8 because they don't want the marriage license to suffer the change of having MAN and WIFE written instead having SPOUSE1 and SPOUSE2 written in its spot. Do you honestly give a shit about what your marriage license says? Whens the last time anyone even look at theirs? Does a wife love their husband less if he's "spouse2" on the marriage license instead of man?

Do conservatives even realize the boon that same-sex marriage would have for our current tax system? from a purely fiscal standpoint (and not from a standpoint of a repressed sexual identity crying out to be acknowledged) , it would be stupid not to legalize it

Ellen is hip with it, why aren't you?

And not to mention the wedding industry. If you're some community college photography or film major I question how you could be voting yes on this. The majority of the work that will keep you alive after you "get out of college" will be from booking wedding jobs as the photographer or camera guy. Your main goal is to try to have more people get married. So limiting how many people can get married... fuckin' stupid!

With marriage comes divorce, roughly half the time. So you tack on all the court fees that the increased divorce rate will bring about and you have yourself a way to get out of this terrible debt our state is in. I got a flier that said:
"Tolreance of gay marriage will become Mandatory. YES ON PROP 8"
As if tolerance is some sort of grave sin. You know what else was made mandatorily tolerated? INTEGRATION, you George-Wallace-Channeling fundie dipshit fucks! If this passes, I hope all gay people in California go completely postal and conduct civil unrest with massive riots. Hope you queer as folk folks take to the streets and make the Rodney King situation look like the summer of love. Make it one fabulous wreckage.

I promise you this, religious nuts. If prop 8 passes I'm going to kill God myself

VOTE NO ON PROP 8
