Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday!

Now that you had so much fun watching women flashing their titties on Fat Tuesday celebrating Madri Gras, it's time to come down from that high and get Ash Wednesday on with. No, it's not a day you're suppose to watch Army of Darkness. It's not that sort of Ash Wednesday. But it is time to mock your co-workers for having a dirt mark on their face.

You're probably wondering what exactly is LENT. I'll tell you. It's the past tense and past participle of the verb "Lend". Now you know and knowing is half the battle. In a nut shell, it's when a person of religious back ground, namely catholic or christian, gives up some thing they do for 40 days and 40 nights. This is suppose to mirror the made up scenario that Jesus went through when he went through the desert.

But to me, the "Self denial" of Lent is funny because it's not difficult or useful or behavior-changing and is basically just a way for children in adult bodies to trick their caveman brains into expecting a reward for their sacrifice. It's very silly to think that some arbitrary day has more poignant meaning of giving things up over any other day.

I know what you're thinking. How dare I say something true about your beliefs! You'll have me know people have held your beliefs since before the Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution and that makes them beyond reproach!

But let's get real. Do you really know what you sound like?
"Oh hi, I'm going to fst because I'm a christian. And by fasting I mean I wont eat meat. Well maybe only on Fridays though.. But it can only be fish because that's not really meat... and McDonalds has a sale on Fillet-o-Fish."
No meat on Friday seems like the easiest rule to follow of this whole time period. Given that it's mostly poor families that are more religious, there's typically no meat the rest of the week either.

Think about it. It's as silly as thinking that some magic sky man cares that you gave a thing up. Though I admit that most catholics recognize the absurdity of giving something up for lent.. except for meat on Friday. Why exactly? I have no idea. I would just like to point out that while Jerry's is a Jewish deli, they still serve shrimp cocktails.

Lent is nothing but horse shit. A couple thousand years ago the pope decided that in the leanest time of the year (midwinter) he should trick people into fasting/using fewer resources so he could continue bribing his secret baby mommas without having to pay a premium on dates and spices.

Should I remind you again that the Pope's house is a city. Think about that. A city that is its own country. A country financed in part by cheap dates and spices from the orient and a country that is the size of 17 football fields.. Let that sink in.

I suppose that there should be nothing absurd about making a choice to remove something from your life that impacts it negatively. All it ends up being is some promise that you make to yourself before god. Though I remember the few times growing up what I gave up for Lent and I'm sure that 8 year old me didn't really prove much as a person or to God in taking a month away from Saturday morning cartoons until Easter.

When it comes to appeasing the higher being with giving up something, who do you think you are really impressing with your pussy denials. If you want to practice will through self denial Ramadan is the way to go. And if this really is just abstaining to improve yourself, you're doing it all wrong. Asceticism is for the weak-willed, taking up good habits is much cooler than giving up bad ones.

I just have to laugh when people say they're giving up sweets and slushies for lent. I mean, really? You're going to use the excuse of giving up something to better yourself or sacrifice something in the name of some higher power to give up something so trivial? Yes, it may mean something to you, but let's be honest, how will giving up those things for 40 days improve your life at all?

I know, maybe I could just give the bitterness I have towards religions. But do we ask balloons to give up helium for lent? I think not! It's very simple, you either accept your bad habits or kick them permanently, the reward is not feeling guilty about it and/or a healthier life for yourself.

What I Don't Want For Christmas: Blowing A Buck Shot In Bed

What I Don't Want For Christmas: Blowing A Buck Shot In Bed

I already mentioned that I didn't want a Freedom Tray (wink wink), but I have something new to add to the list of things I DON'T WANT (hint hint, nudge nudge) A bedside shot gun holder

I wonder how many times they can show the same gun being put into the rack over and over again. The quote of the ad comes at the end
"some customers choose to buy racks for both sides of the bed"
Ho ho! I know when I'm a 700 pound fat ass cause I ate too many Freedom Fries, I can reach BOTH sides of the bed and feel the need to shoot off the calves of anyone who is walking in front of my bed.

The whole Gun culture is pretty scary. It's only second to the Football culture.. which can be found at bars or buddies homes every Sunday through the winter season. Hey, let's combine the two and see what we get;

Yes.. this is why I don't care about football. I'm a Dodgers fan and even that isn't this insane. I'm sure they're a lot less murders in most baseball seasons than the accidental ones that result from this sort of gun culture. I suppose it's different in rural communities. This will be a story they tell at Christmas time for a long time after this. All through the community that day they shot a large tv will be the highlight of some of their lives..

So please, when Christmas comes around, don't get me the Bed Side Shot Gun holder. It's really not the type of firing I would like to do when I'm in bed.

Burn The Flag Already

Burn The Flag Already

When I was young I hated pledging to the flag in school. I also hated daily prayer. But then again, I was in a private school and the nuns sure ruled with an iron ruler. God damn you Sister Mary Margret! You see, the flag is very important thing to our culture. The series of articles will prove just that as we are only a few days away from giving thanks on thanksgiving... Our first official meal on this great piece of rock we call the U.S.

It seems that there's a lot of new sales tactics for flags these days. Take for example internet superstar Chuck Norris. He, as a true patriotic soldier, is calling for his fellow teabagger followers to stop using the "modern" American flag and instead, pay him $73.50 for The Chuck Norris Teabagger Flag

How Patriotic! I mean, who would have thought that a tea stain would equal heritage? Then again, do you know what's so god damned American about that $73.50 flag kit? The fact that the price includes $70.00 of pure profit. That's about as AMERICAN as it gets! You too can feel like a revolutionary war hero by waving a flag that would not exist for another 150 years!

One year when I was a camp counselors for the inner city kids at the YMCA I took a flag to hang on the outside of the cabin. It fell to the floor and a girl's counselor saw this and demanded it get burned because it touched the ground. In the middle of the night it was taken and half burned before I could get a hold of it. The moral of that story is because of that situation, I know Flag Code:
Flag Code, Section 3 posted: Use of flag for advertising purposes; mutilation of flag

Any person who, within the District of Columbia, in any manner, for exhibition or display, shall place or cause to be placed any word, figure, mark, picture, design, drawing, or any advertisement of any nature upon any flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America; or shall expose or cause to be exposed to public view any such flag, standard, colors, or ensign upon which shall have been printed, painted, or otherwise placed, or to which shall be attached, appended, affixed, or annexed any word, figure, mark, picture, design, or drawing, or any advertisement of any nature; or who, within the District of Columbia, shall manufacture, sell, expose for sale, or to public view, or give away or have in possession for sale, or to be given away or for use for any purpose, any article or substance being an article of merchandise, or a receptacle for merchandise or article or thing for carrying or transporting merchandise, upon which shall have been printed, painted, attached, or otherwise placed a representation of any such flag, standard, colors, or ensign, to advertise, call attention to, decorate, mark, or distinguish the article or substance on which so placed shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment for not more than thirty days, or both, in the discretion of the court. The words "flag, standard, colors, or ensign", as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.

To sum up for those of you who fell asleep in the middle of that law text book definition, it's illegal in some sense of the law to deface the flag and sell it in this new and awesome way. You know, in the sense of dipping it in tea to stain it.

The real question is are those really enforced? Flag-derivative products are everywhere. The flag napkins are always my favorite because you can wipe your face of the BBQ mess you made on your face. So perhaps that answers your question on if they're really enforced. But it's all about pointing out the hypocrisy in pretending to be patriotic and not even being able to follow the Flag Code. Then again, there's no penalty for violating the flag code, so even if it were enforced, it wouldn't be any different. The Supreme Court has ruled that penalties for mishandling the flag would violate the First Amendment.

So what do you do when you need to get rid of a flag? You take it to the American legion so it can be disposed of in a respectful manner.... Ha, yeah. Fuck that. I think I can find other ways of disposing a flag that don't include being constantly hit up for spare change or probably raped in the always shady area where the American Legion is located.

The proper way to dispose of a flag is to burn it, but if you don't want to risk someone seeing you doing that and trying to kill you. I think the Boy Scouts will do it for you and it'll earn them a badge. Or you could just dump it in your garbage bag with your other discarded trash. It's a piece of cloth and it's not like it's representing a country that deserves respect. Flags and nationalism mean nothing, you are a fucking child if you think otherwise.

It's not like it matters to most of today's youth. Check out this Miley Cyrus music video;

Missed it? Notice that flag in the background? Yeah.. Now millions of teenagers will think that there are only 32 states in the Union. Thanks Miley.

Oh what am I saying? Millions of teenagers couldn't give a fuck how many shitty states are in this gay union, they're busy masturbating to the person standing in the middle. They're the only ones that still let that little harlot and her christian-tempting back flesh in.

But you know, it's nice to realize that there's some people who actually think for themselves and use this patriotic symbol of standing to a flag and make a statement with it. So much that this website is saying that a 10-Year-Old Will Phillips Is a Bigger Gay Rights Hero Than Obama
Will Phillips, we salute you. We knew the 10-year-old Arkansas fifth grader who refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance — to a country that actively discriminates against LGBTs — was awesome. We had no idea how awesome until he popped up on CNN over the weekend to retell his tale … in front of an obviously proud, though mildly embarrassed, father, who says it best: "The more I heard from him, the more it became apparent that this wasn't a typical act of juvenile delinquency — this was a a very a-typical act of juvenile delinquency."
Do you think America would be different if articles like this used the word congress instead of the president's name? I sure think so. So this kid went ahead and told his teacher to jump off a cliff because he didn't want to say the pledge of allegiance. It's really a great story and you should see the interview clip

And the news article to it;
"I've grown up with a lot of people and I'm good friends with a lot of people who are gay and I think they should have the rights all people should, and I'm not going to swear that they do," the ten-year-old Phillips said.

Jay Phillips, asked if his son was prepared for the media attention, said his son saw it as an opportunity to raise awareness. "He felt that just because he's ten years old doesn't mean he doesn't have opinions, doesn't mean he doesn't have rights, and doesn't mean he can't make a difference."

A columnist for the Arkansas News has stood up for Phillips against his angry substitute teacher. Predictably, fellow students have taunted the kid and called him a "gaywad," but he says he doesn't see his quiet act of protest ending any time soon.
So the kids went and slaughtered him at school. Not really all that surprising. Kids are pretty brutal and really terrible to other kids. But really, Gaywad? I'm kind of surprised "Gaywad" is still around. Has anyone traced the origin of the term, maybe it's got a longer history than I realize.

Gaywad is about 3x worse than "Gaymo" but Gaywad is very inferior, however, to the more powerful "Gaylord". To be honest though, he's quite the wad of gay, isn't he? I'm pretty sure they probably called him a Gaywad long before this incident anyway. Then there's the lesser known Galord Victorious. I am your GAYLORD, GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES BEFORE ME! Being Lord of the gays isn't that bad when you think about it. It's like Royalty! But I suppose it would be more enjoyable if it wasn't a Sub twink, I suppose. I'm getting so tired of this Gaytriarch.

I mean, this kid is going to get slaughtered at school because that's what kids do to anyone who is different. I'm more worried about the Father. Look at his Dad nervously wringing his hands.... The boys at the mill are going to think he raised a fag.

Good thing the mill closed down 9 months ago.

The again, making children pledge allegiance to your country is really creepy. We should stop this propaganda bullshit sooner rather than later. I guess we're just used to creepy stuff. American nationalism in general is pretty creepy. In the end, I don't think this is AS powerful a motion. It wont end the way Gay couples are treated. Though he really is more of a hero to gay rights than Obama. Shit, anyone who has ever done anything nice for a gay person is a bigger gay rights hero than Obama.

Here's Salt In Your Eye

Here's Salt In Your Eye

I often wonder who buys the stupid shit on tv that they advertise to anyone up that late. The magic bullet, any home gym system that promises abs in seconds.. Well, this is one of those they can run the ad for right before all the Church services start on Sunday morning.

Get yourself some Christian Salt
CRESAPTOWN, Md. (Map, News) - You've heard of kosher salt? Now there's a Christian variety.

Retired barber Joe Godlewski says he was inspired by television chefs who repeatedly recommended kosher salt in recipes.

"I said, 'What the heck's the matter with Christian salt?'" Godlewski said, sipping a beer in the living room of his home in unincorporated Cresaptown, a western Maryland mountain community.

By next week, his trademarked Blessed Christians Salt will be available at http://www.memphi.net the Web site of Memphis, Tenn.-based seasonings manufacturer Ingredients Corporation of America.

It's sea salt that's been blessed by an Episcopal priest, ICA President Damon S. Arney said Wednesday. He said the company also hopes to market the salt through Christian bookstores and as a fundraising tool for religious groups.

Arney and Godlewski, 73, said a share of the proceeds will be donated to Christian charities, but neither would specify a percentage.

...Godlewski said his salt, packaged in containers bearing bright red crosses, has at least as much flavor and beneficial minerals as kosher salt - and it's for a good cause.

...If the salt takes off, Godlewski plans an entire line of Christian-branded foods, including rye bread, bagels and pickles.
Not to say that this particular person is an example of the usual short-sighted thinking of the North American fundamental christian persuasion, but... what an idiot.

Praise Jesus someone finally decided to do this. I've been avoiding all those delicious Jewish foods because I don't want to turn into a filthy stinking JEW. Now I can eat bagels and pickles and not have to worry about rotting in hell with those fucking kikes!

The Jewish Conspiracy group had no comment on this news piece

Christians, you keep your wine and stale crackers and let the rest of us enjoy bagels in peace. Oh, and Maryland, stay classy. Always stay as classy as producing salt of the earth people like this. I do have to take into consideration that Western Maryland is not actually part of Maryland, but is a mislabeled part of West Virginia. With that in mind, I'll still say that Maryland is pretty god damn trashy.

Let's look at the bible for a minute
Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth..."
Wait.. does that mean this Christian salt is going to be made out of.... PEOPLE?!??!?!?!? Not to mention that 'Blessed Christian Salt' has either gotta be free, or it's ironic, since in(most branches of) Christianity it's sinful to sell a blessing, or an object for more because of a blessing.

I do like this line of the article.
"I said, 'What the heck's the matter with Christian salt?'" Godlewski said, sipping a beer in the living room of his home in unincorporated Cresaptown, a western Maryland mountain community.
Yeah, I highly doubt he was sipping his beer like some top-hated gentleman when he thought of this idea. I suppose "Pounding beer brewed in his only bathtub, in his corrugated-steel-roofed cabin lit by bacon-grease lamps at the end of a road marked 'privit proparty'" is a mouthful, yeah. I'm surprised he wasn't spitting chewing tobacco when they interviewed him

I do believe the Bible is very clear about using Christianity as a franchise like this. At least, after the merchants were driven from the temple and whatnot. It's not like this is the salt of Christ, collected from the sweat of his armpits. Sprinkle it on your peas, in remembrance of him.

I thought they already had Christian Salt

Oddly enough, it's both Kosher and Vegetarian safe.

I have to wonder if Christian salt turn me into a self loathing, closet homosexual cruising airport bathroom stalls at 3am? No? Then it's not GOP acceptable. I hear Christian Salt is good on Freedom Fries.

Christian rye bread... Christian bagels... Christian pickles... Should we expect Christian Matzah? Christian gafildafish? Christian kugel? To all you Christians, Keep your salt, but hands of the Jewish bagels! No way you'll improve on perfection. Don't you dare touch latkes. I'm sure you'll just find a way to mess it up somehow.

She should be the logo character on the Christan salt.

It's not actually kosher salt, it's koshering salt. It's not a Jewish conspiracy to take all your money. This is what happens when rednecks get media attention. Kosher salt is NOT blessed by a Jew. Rabbis don't bless things. It's not a Jewish idea.

Kosher salt is physically different from other forms of salt. It has more surface are per mg than table salt or sea salt. It's good for koshering meat because it draws the blood out of them easier. It's recommended because its large jagged crystals stick to the meat and don't dissolve. In actually nearly all salt is kosher, including ordinary table salt.

Kosher salt x 75 - Even at such a small size you can see the huge nose like structure

I also want to point out that "kosher pickle" doesn't mean that it's kosher. It means that garlic has been used in the brine like traditional Jewish pickle makers in New York. A "kosher dill pickle" may very well not meet kosher requirements.

Just because Hebrew National uses the slogan "We answer to a higher authority", doesn't make it all that much better anyway. They still have to

Jews and Christians aren't all that apart. Christians, pre-Jesus, weren't allowed to eat pork. Something to do with being that it walks, has cloven hooves, but doesn't chew its cud. But not eating something when you're starving seemed like a silly idea and whatever pope decided to over turn the whole rules of Moses.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this guy has the right idea and I'm going to start selling Atheist salt and make millions. It'll be a 6-inch perfect cube that's a single salt crystal. It won't be used for flavoring, just for annoying your dinner guests.

Oh Ashley, You So Crazy

Oh Ashley, You So Crazy

I've been hearing these ads on the radio for some time now and I just have to wonder what's the point? I realize online dating sites are big and all, but is there a need for an online dating site specifically for adultery? I won't get into the annoying jingle yet but I will lay out the average commercial for this site:

Girl: "Oooooh I'm so happy - I'm finally getting what I want in bed!"
Girl2: "Oh, did Jeff take some pills?"
Girl: "No, it's not Jeff - I met somebody on the internet who can satisfy me"
Girl2: "Oh wow - does he have friends!?"
Girl: "You don't need his friends - AshleyMadison.com has it all!"

They then lost the stupid slogan of "Life is short, have an affair" but losing that didn't help them get any class. I'm told that they show this commercial regularly during "Cheaters" ironically. Which is to be expected, shuffled in the late night time slot along with those sex hot line ads. But it seems Ashley Maddison kicked it up a notch and pushed for this ad to be put on the Superbowl. It was only shown in Texas. Which makes perfect sense.

I have to ask... WHY? Why is there a need for a website devoted to allowing married people to cheat? You really don't need a website to find someone to cheat with. As with all things, I suppose it would just make it a bit simpler, and a bit more anonymous. Which I guess is slightly better than having them cheat on you with your best friend or something.

Let's clear something up. Divorce doesn't carry a wide social stigma these days. Perhaps in some wing nut religious circles, but by and large, it's an accepted, healthy practice. Some perfectionists might hold THEMSELVES to high standards and consider divorce failure, but that's their own psychosis, not yours. If marriages fail these days, counseling followed by divorce are the socially accepted options. Divorce, arrived at properly, is success at analyzing your relationship and making the intelligent decision about its viability.

The first sign you're a scum bag, you see this screen.

If you're getting married, have the balls to lay out the ground rules with your spouse. Tell them you plan to be faithful to the contract, or tell them you plan to safely fool around once in a while. Give them the truth, which gives them the power to make the same decisions for themselves. It's the caring thing to do. Then again, it would also be the caring thing to NOT fuck around with other people when you're in a relationship and actually care for the person.

Cheating is more than just sex, you are exposing your partner to STDs usually without their knowledge. It's bad enough to stab someone in the back, but to possible expose them to a potentially deadly ailment without them knowing adds to the offense. If you have the need to fuck around, why be in a relationship to begin with? That's what I don't get about all this.

If you don't want to get married, that's more than perfectly fine. Advantage of marriage seems to be the whole tax breaks because it's certainly isn't any sort of security of having a life long partner. You can get tax breaks by incorporating as well, I think. And unlike marriage, you can incorporate with more than one person at once! Unless you live in Utah. In which case it's perfectly legal to marry more than one person. I just have to question your sanity at that point.

"Adultery website" sounds like what your grandmother would call a porn site.

This leads to a new question in spicing up your marriage. Why not just have your wife dye her hair and take off your glasses? Instant stranger. It's kind of like a new woman. If you squint your eyes really hard and really imagine it.

The people who use this website are complete pussies. They're the type to bet both on red and black at the Casinos. I never got that mentality. You're not winning anything. They think that if they have someone at home, they'll always have sex when they want it. As if they lack all confidence in their ability to seduce someone. Really says a lot about a person that they're so morally corrupt and see themselves so low. I guess it's a good reflection because they are indeed pieces of shit.

When you are in a relationship with someone you are basically saying "Hey I like you and you're the only one I want to be with for now". Relationships are also built on trust (yes a cliché, but still true) and being comfortable with the other person. If you want the other person to worry, feel like shit and not trust you and finding out that you have been screwing around behind their back, sure go ahead and be that ass hole.

I'm sure you'll just cheat and get the clifnotes on the book

Maybe the lesson of this is that the moral and the social standards are showing us that marriage is outdated? Assuming there's no religious motivation, there aren't many significant perks to it. A legally-binding contract just cheapens the whole experience, anyway. Maybe I'm just overlooking the tax break? I think it's been a tradition for generations now to get married for the tax break.

Marriage seems to be a holdover from earlier times that won't go away. It really only makes things messier for people given the divorce rate, but I suppose it reinforces the need to stay together for the children in some cases. I don't care if people sleep around in an non committed relationship, but cheating is awful. Getting caught cheating is going to hurt your kids just as much as, if not more than, getting a divorce.

You people do realize that you don't have to rush into marriage. There was a time when you would date one person one night and another the next. You weren't considered serious until it was made perfectly clear between the two parties. It seems that these days people just rush into marriage and then they regret it down the line or look back and feel like they didn't experience life. While at the same time they feel like if they risk finding someone new they'll lose the steady, but doomed relationship they are currently in. Maybe that's why marriages aren't lasting long. People fool themselves into thinking they're happily married only to find out years later that they aren't.

I thought I couldn't see anything worse than those strip club billboards

I'm wondering about the fabric of our society when this type of thing is advertised during the Superbowl. I mean it is blatant unashamed moral failing. Kinda like seeing an ad for Joe's beastiality farm while watching The Office. I am just surprised how easily we accept this kind of thing now days that we allow it in the mainstream.

I'll just finish this off with this. There is never justification for adultery, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a morally bankrupt asshole. If you don't want to be in a relationship with someone, or if they're not getting the job done and you have communicated your problems, leave them. Flat out leave them. Life is indeed too short, but it's also too damn short to string someone along who you no longer care enough about that you're cheating behind their back and violating a commitment you made to them. To do anything less is to be a pussy coward and just shows how selfish you are trying to have eat your cake and have it too.

God Damn It America! February Edition

God Damn It America! February Edition

It hasn't been more than a couple of days since I last said it but I'm finding the need to say it again.... GOD DAMN IT AMERICA! Yes, that's right. I'm doing a February edition of this segment because I really have to say it again! GOD DAMN IT AMERICA!

Detroit is a pretty shitty place. But I didn't think it was as bad as it really is. A place that it takes THREE police calls to get them to come down to find a dead body.

DETROIT - In an abandoned warehouse, the image was stark and shocking: two denim-clad, lifeless legs poking up through trash-choked ice.

Investigators who took three emergency calls over two days before finally going out to retrieve the body will now try to figure out what killed the man, but this much is clear — it's become another symbol of Detroit's decay and indifference.

"Most of us grew up with this," said Mike Corbin, 34, pointing toward the old warehouse and brooding, dilapidated Michigan Central train depot nearby. "It's depressing. Chicago and New York have their own problems, but those are in certain areas. But in Detroit, it's the entire city."

Investigators are looking into reports that a group of urban adventurers who get their kicks exploring Detroit's crumbling buildings and at least one homeless man had seen the man's body, but didn't call police.

Detroit is a tough town, often described as gritty, hard-knuckled, a survivor. Its post-World War II population soared to more than 1.8 million. Many of the 900,000 people who now call it home lived through Detroit's days as the country's "murder capital" when more than 700 people were slain in 1974.

Then again, they are a little busy.

On the radio yesterday there was an interview with the journalist who called this in to the cops. He said he had to call 911 twice before they'd even show, and when he talked to the people who initially found the corpse they told him it had been there for over a month. The reporter wanted to see if he could get the corpse identified and maybe give this guy's family a bit of closure. So it had to be a lot of calls.

How apathetic can you be when you just let a dead body sit there for a month? I've done my fair share of urban exploration but these guys just give us a bad name. You don't steal from the location but you sure as hell report a dead stiff. Have some fucking respect.

Dead by cold is not something fun. And he isn't the only one dying of cold here. A 93 year old in Michigan dies after he can't pay his heat bill.
Officials in Mid-Michigan said the 93-year-old man who owed more than $1,000 in unpaid electric bills froze to death inside his home -- where the municipal power company had restricted his use of electricity.Neighbors and friends of Schur want answers as to how this could happen.“Now that we do know it was hypothermia, there’s a whole bunch of feelings that I’ve got going through me,” said Jim Herndon, a neighbor of Schur’s. “There’s anger, for the city and the electrical company.”Bay City officials said changes are on the way in an attempt to not let another instance like this happen again.
Forget health care.. Well, not forget it. He's a Vet, he could go down to the shitty V.A. but there's no reason why the electric company should be able to cut someone off during the winter. In most places the utility companies are not allowed to cut off service during the winter, no matter how far behind you are. I thought that was the case everywhere. Fucking makes me sick. God damn it America! This is cruel, and reading that his death was severely painful boils me over with rage.
Then we have this Google street view of Rapid City, South Dakota

Stay classy, America. Can someone tell me if this is offensive or not? I don't fucking know anymore.

I know we live in a Capitalistic society and all, but I'm a bit tired of all these Obama related crap being sold. I'm pretty glad that the White House lawyers are starting to go after people selling shit like this.

But it doesn't end there. Seems that you people have pretty much pissed off our first black president with all your over use of his image!

Jan. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Barack Obama’s popularity makes him a marketer’s dream. Now, the honeymoon may be over for those trying to profit from his appeal.
White House lawyers want to control the use of the president’s image, recognizing the worldwide fascination about Obama’s election, First Amendment free-speech rights and easy access to videos and photos on the Web.

“Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.
I think he has a reason to be a little peeved by all this. If everyone started making a buck from my likeness and I wasn't getting a plum cent, I'd be pissed also. You people made dolls out of his kids.

He's the president of the free world, I'm sure he doesn't want dolls of his kids made that come with boobs! Come on, America. Get your shit together.
