Four More Beers!

FOUR MORE BEERS!

No.. wait, I mean four more years! Yeah, that's right. Are you folks ready for the 2012 Presidential campaign? I mean.. LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED, YO!

Of course this is an assumption we all could have made, but I got the email and the facebook update yesterday and here we are.

Barack Obama is officially running for President of the United States of America. Yeah, sure, it's been a rough couple of years for the President, economy, wars, republican obstructionism, racism, people general crabbiness about things not going the way they thought or hoped or were lied to about, it must suck being the boss, right?

Yeah..... I'm pretty sure the new slogan should be
MAYBE WE KINDA COULD, SORTA
That video is a painfully pathetic joke. Why yes, it begins with us... keep saying that as you cut the taxes of the top 2%.

Though, maybe this new video was pushed to be released because of last week's April fools video.

To be honest, he probably should have ran with that one video from the get go. I mean, who wouldn't vote for someone riding a unicorn?

At this point I realize that I was enthralled not with Obama, but the idea of Obama.

Yup, it took a democratic president to make public financing of campaigns, ending the wars, letting the tax cuts for the rich elapse, the end of torture, and public healthcare all moot and irrelevant -- and that's no small feat to ignore.

Obama 2012: When you want a GOP agenda without actually voting for a GOP candidate. What other motto can be said about this? What do you mean I proved representative democracy is a joke? -Obama 2012

It's not going to be pretty. Isn't there suppose to be a second foreclosure wave this year with all the ARMs readjusting? I can't wait to see Obama stammer his way out of that one. Maybe I will finally break and revert to fascism. Maybe the whole country will. It's not as if all that hope and change actually happened.

We elected a milquetoast liberal corporatist President. Sure, he was black. And I guess no one believe it could happen in the United States of America. So yeah, we've come so far. Yes we did. Yes we did. But what has Obama done for us lately? Of the top of my head there's:

Obama Pros
I guess he stopped the economy from completely bottoming out
Repeal of DADT
Likes Basketball
From Chicago
Gave FDA the ability to regulate manufacturing and marketing of tobacco
Signed new START Treaty with Russia
Ended Bush-era policy of sanctioned torture

Obama Cons
Economy still recovering slowly
Military tribunals
Continuation of Gitmo, indefinite detention
Escalation of war in Afghanistan (one of the few campaign promises kept!)
Expansion of War on Terror (bombings in Yemen, Somalia)
No leadership in Libyan bombing campaign
Tax cuts for the richest 2% of Americans
Tends to side with big banks (IE opooses Elizabeth Warren)
Extension of the Patriot Act
State-sponsored torture of Bradley Manning
Enhanced TSA procedures are a violation of 4th amendment rights
Promised public access to full text of bills for 3 days before he signs it to law: campaign promise broken

Obama Wash
Increased fuel economy standards but only 7 MPG
Healthcare Reform did nothing/little to stem rising costs
He's not a Republican but he's not liberal
Credit Card Bill of Rights (good policy but banks are finding new ways to fuck us over see: cap on debit cards)

And you could also go see what Obama has done at What The Fuck Has Obama Done Dot Com

An Endless campaign to match the final endless wars of the dying American empire. So who else is running? Well, the frontrunner in the race is a lying Goldman-Sachs puppet who is widely known in Atlanta as "Uncle Tom" and by even less flattering names elsewhere.

Tim Pawlenty - Courage to stand... That ad is the best. I mean, it's like a Transformers trailer. Hell, you could pretty much plug it into a Transformers trailer.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, widely believed to be a 2012 Republican presidential contender, is making the rounds in key early voting states like Iowa -- and trying his hand at pop culture 101 to win over a growing voting bloc, the Des Moines Register reports.

"I think what the younger voters have figured out is that this is a broken relationship (with Obama)," Pawlenty said at the Iowa Federation of College Republicans dinner in Des Moines, Iowa. "If this was a Lady Gaga song, the relationship between the youth vote and Barack Obama would be 'Bad Romance.' "The Register's Jennifer Jacobs noted that Pawlenty even invoked Charlie Sheen:

"We may not in this room have tiger blood like he does, but we've got something else in common with him. There's going to be a lot of winning on the Republican side in 2012."
So hey, at least there's a comedy option in all this. But over all I have a real big question.. if the U.S. can put a black corporate shill into the White House, what's stopping us from putting a Green Socialist there?

It can be done.. we just need to try! Waste your vote - 2012! You just need to stop and thnk for a moment that this "Voting for the lesser of two evils" thing is so common enough that we'll actually never have a decent government.

Then again, who knows. Maybe Obama, with out the fear of having to run for re-election in a second term will be more left and potentially wants to fire up voters for the 2014 election to get a democratic majority.
