The Homeless Man With A Golden Voice

The Homeless Man With A Golden Voice

No, this isn't the title of the next James Bond movie. It's modern day rags to riches. It's the latest in what can be considered feel good stories. It's this side of the Pond's Susan Boyle. Only a lot less uglier. See for yourself...

Before this week, the name “Ted Williams” most likely brought to mind the phrase “Teddy Ballgame.” Now, the name has become synonymous with “Golden-voiced,” as a homeless man with that moniker has shot to stardom as a result of his breathtaking vocal chords.

Recently, Columbus Dispatch videographer Doral Chenoweth III filmed a brief interview with the Brooklyn-born Williams, who — until recently — panhandled on the corner of a highway.

Yesterday, the video went viral, and has (at the time of this posting) racked up more than 5 million views on YouTube. This ascent is most likely due in no small part to the Reddit community, which took up the cause after Reddit user and Columbus-dweller “shiggiddie” posted the video to the site after hearing about the interview on a local radio show.

“I had already seen the immense good the Reddit community is capable of doing,” shiggiddie says. “I hoped that maybe through the community I might find out who this Ted Williams character is, and how we might be able to help him get on his feet with some work other redditors might want/need for their businesses, etc.”

The results were overwhelming: “I received anywhere from 70 to 80 job offers for Ted in my personal messages alone over the past day and a half, some coming from people claiming to represent the interests of nationwide radio programs, television shows, businesses looking for someone to do their voice systems, ads, ads and more ads, musicians wanting Ted to contribute his voice to their tracks, and even radio hosts wanting him to join their shows as a full-time jockey,” shiggiddie says.

“I haven’t even gotten to the news sources asking me for more information, of which I’d guess I received personal messages from at least 20 to 25.”

The video spread from boards like Reddit to viral culture blogs, leading to appearances on major news outlets — from print to radio to television.

In fact, the awestruck Williams recently appeared on CBS’s The Early Show, where he he tearfully told viewers that he’s on his way back to Brooklyn to reconnect with his 92-year-old mother. From the side of the highway to television to New York — that’s a pretty rapid and drastic progression.

But the trip back to BK isn’t the biggest opportunity that this turn of events has presented for Williams — his lightning-fast ascent to the viral video firmament has also garnered him job offers from the likes of the NFL and the Cleveland Cavaliers (and, by proxy, Quicken Loans). The Cavs also offered him a house.

Quicken Loans President Jay Farner heard about Williams’s great talent last night. “We’re working on a lot of marketing over here at the company, voiceover work, commercials and websites and all kinds of things for Quicken Loans and a variety of our companies who would need that. People heard the voice and thought that might be a great fit. And when I saw that he was in Ohio, I thought that was excellent because the Cavaliers are right there and we’ve got a Quicken Loans web center down there. We’re kind of partial to helping folks in the Midwest.”
How can this not be a feel good story? It's got it all. It has a man debasing himself so the wealthy will throw him the meagerist of scraps, is rescued by pure luck. It's evidence that if you try hard enough you too can succeed, regardless of background, in the free market utopia that is America!

Makes you wonder... what about the millions of others homeless people. Guess they're standing on the wrong street corner and holding up the wrong signs.

Sorry buddy, you should have had a better sounding voice.

Man, what a great time to get lucky in broadcasting. Just as radio is becoming completely obsolete. The sad part is that he'll never be as popular as Bubba the Love Sponge. And yes.. that's actually some radio personalities name.

The Cleveland Cavs offered him a home and a job. You would think that this would mean a lot but then you realize that it's a home in Cleveland and they'll always have the leering doubt that he'll drop them and go to Miami once he makes it really big.

I wonder if any conservatives have started blathering on about the "American dream" with this news story. On that note, we should track down the family that was foreclosed on so that this guy could get a free house from a charitable bank.

Maybe at this point I should remind you that the American dream is a fallacy, death on the other hand, is certain.

If he does wind up getting a job from some beautiful, magnanimous master they will watch him and scrutinize everything he does and says waiting for an opportunity for him to backslide and quietly put him back out on the street. Just look at the morning shows. How much more can you point out that he's some crazy bum.

Ah, today show.. never change. Never fucking change. If there was anymore proof that you needed that our news outlets are total shit, the Today show would be a prime exhibit.

This man's story is pure capitalist theatre. You take one guy from the gutter, make him famous to pacify an easily duped underclass desperate to believe American meritocracy still exists. If a bum can do it, then what's stopping you? You know, other than reality.

But it's true. Why get out and protest when your big break is just around the corner.. literally. Or on Youtube. Good news guys, I was telling a joke to some buddies of mine in a restaurant and some producer overheard me. Now I have my own sitcom deal!

Then after that I was walking down the street and some fashion designer was all like "Wow, you have an interesting look about you" and now I'm a model. Pretty crazy, huh. But here I am.. I'm also over there on that billboard and in magazines.

You see, this shit just doesn't make sense and most of all, just doesn't seem logical to hope for. But hey, it's such a feel good story. Black homeless man honored by white power structure for convincingly imitating a white man's cadenced. "He's so well spoken!" Exclaimed a local white fat man. Just look at how they treat his reunited moment with his mother.

My goodness.. What a touching moment! *CLICK CLICK FLASH CLICK CLICK SHUTTER CLICK CLICK*

I heard that a couple of people have negative things to say about this guy. That they've seen him yell and harass drivers for not stopping or slowing down. Just a head up, that his shouting voice isn't nearly as "golden" as his radio one.

It really is just a lot of white guilt that got him this much attention. Now it's just a matter of time before we watch him backslide to the streets again. I mean, it's not like he doesn't have a record that... well, once the light shines on all the details will not be so pretty.
"Williams, 53, has been busted for theft, robbery, escape, forgery, and drug possession. He is pictured at right in mug shots (click to enlarge) taken as a result of those Ohio collars, which stretch back more than two decades."

My god! That man has lived several life times of awesome hair. It's really amazing to see the shift from Howard Stern to Richard Pryor in the top right corner. I also wonder why they let him wear the medical mask in that one image. I mean, what's the story behind that one? I so want to know now.

Oh yeah.. he has 9 kids. How the hell? I mean, I know if I'm out of change and a homeless guy ask me for some I usually just tell them I don't have anything on me. I don't put out with a pity fuck. But hey, I guess I shouldn't judge other's charity.

Well, At least it's the weekend and he'll be out of the media attention come Tuesday.... I hope.

If You Build It, They Will Foreclose

If You Build It, They Will Foreclose On It

Oh hey, what do you know - the housing crisis is over.. Home buildings increased in April!

Home building rose in April, government figures showed on Tuesday, as activity was possibly spurred by an $8,000 government tax credit for new buyers. But the data suggested that builders might also be slowing their future construction plans.

The Commerce Department said work started on 672,000 homes in April, up 5.8 percent from March. It was the highest number of housing starts since October 2008 and slightly ahead of analysts’ expectations. It also showed a 40.9 percent gain compared with April 2009, when housing starts were 477,000.

Building of single-family homes also went up, rising 10.2 percent in April from March, the department said.

The end of the tax credit for first-time homebuyers, which had been extended from November through April for sales of houses that close by the end of June, might have had an effect on the numbers, economists said.

I just have to ask who the fuck is paying for the building these track homes?!? I guess the answer to that is the federal reserve. I suppose if demand relaxes for more than a few breaths the entire house of cards collapses in on itself and it doesn't matter who's paying for it. I mean, why do I hate the American dream? That whole concept that everyone in America should own a home. Even though when you go across the pond and you'll see the desire to own a home goes down compared to the states.

I know the back and forth. Building houses creates jobs. Jobs creates demand for said houses. We just need to get immigration reform going so once we let people naturalize, they can shoot to buy a house which will lead to a sharp drop in inventory and another spike in home values. Though if only home equity loans were actually regulated, people would have to stop fueling their consumption with debt and realize how truly fucked they've really been in the last 20 years.

On the bright side, things have never looked better if you're a squatter.

Maybe the Banks should probably give out sub-prime loans so people can afford all those houses they are building, right....... oh wait, we've been down this road before. I wonder what's going to happen when Americans finally face the reality that they cannot live on debt for all their life.

Back before the Obama home buying tax breaks ended there was all this talk about how there's this mini-boom in housing buys from people rushing to get in the tax breaks. This was by no means a fix to the economy

I know so many people who rant on about how this is the best time to buy a home. BUY BUY BUY! BUY NOW! These are the best home prices we'll ever see! Though they've been saying that continually from 1990 onward. They will say that tomorrow, next year and five years from now. Your wife will believe them and you'll be in debt for $600k for a 900 square foot tiny box with granite counter tops and a dying yard because it is an area with "nice schools"

Let's put it this way, we have an infinite supply of houses. No one wants the houses... okay, correction.. No one can afford these houses and yet the only thing we can think of is to build more houses. More house! We need more houses!

I bet the home prices will drop 10k after government cheese for buying a house goes away. We're going to be like Ireland where there are so many houses you can give one to every family and still have too many

If you want to laugh, realize that a huge number of commercial adjustable rate mortgages are going to default within the next few months. Some this year and some next year with a huge amount in 2012 right before the Mayan apocalypse. Though I'd be more surprised if people don't look so confused and ask how this could ever happen and who could have predicted this?

Reading this whole PDF should basically confirm the idea that you should never own a house ever. Just going out to the Santa Clarita or Inland Empire, you'll see full areas of tract housing developments. Most of the model homes are boarded up, the houses are all vacant where they're completed. They haven't seen any traffic since the economy shit itself. Whenever I'm out in those areas they're still busily plowing fields under to build brand new ones.

Then there's the whole surplus of homes. There's over 1 million homes in shadow inventory that aren't even on the market because allowing them in would completely collapse the housing market and with it the world economy and they're still building homes. If that doesn't make you laugh, you're not into morbid humor.

Do you remember all those TLC shows about flipping homes? It's just so funny. I liked watching House Hunters now. It's like watching yuppies get slaughtered for their organ transplant value. It gave a lot of people that false hope that they could buy any piece of shit property and just put a few thousand dollars into it and flip it a month later for five times the amount they paid for it.

Maybe I missed out. Maybe everyone who didn't buy an overpriced home, default, and then get a free year's worth of rent squatting is just a sucker. Though the risk out weights to reward. Just imagine living with the crippling fear that you'll come home to a locked door with a big "FORECLOSED" sign on it and all of your possessions gone or on the sidewalk. That isn't exactly something that most of those people would count themselves as lucky to experience.

I like to claim I'm revolutionary. That I take a stab at the system but then I realize that hundreds of thousands of average Americans burying themselves in debt and then dying before a cent of it is ever repaid is striking a greater blow to the system than anything I will ever do.

Remember when this ad used to be funny?

Now it's just sort of sad.. Still funny, but more sad because more people realize it was so true and it was them that they were laughing at and not realizing it till now. Just look at the news. It's depression all around. There was a record number of foreclosures in 2010, record to be broken again in 2011 and you might as well swallow that bullet in 2012.
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Foreclosures rose in 3 of every four large U.S. metro areas in this year's first half, likely ruling out sustained home price gains until 2013, real estate data company RealtyTrac said on Thursday.

Unemployment was the main culprit driving foreclosure actions on more than 1.6 million properties, the company said.

"We're not going to see meaningful, sustainable home price appreciation while we're seeing 75 percent of the markets have increases in foreclosures," RealtyTrac senior vice president Rick Sharga said in an interview.

Foreclosure actions -- which include notice of default, scheduled auction and repossession -- in the first half rose in 154 of the 206 metro areas with populations 200,000 or more.

"We're not going to see real price appreciation probably until 2013," said Sharga. "We don't see a double dip in housing but we think it's going to be a long painful recovery for the next three years."

Nine of the 10 areas slammed hardest by the foreclosure tidal wave improved from the first half of 2009, suggesting a peak at rates that are still up to five times the national average, RealtyTrac said in its midyear 2010 metropolitan foreclosure report.

Cities with the 20 highest foreclosure rates were all in Florida, California, Nevada and Arizona.
It's almost as if housing costs too much and people are paid too little for their work! But hey, at least people know who to blame for this housing and economic crisis;
Well, it would appear that all of the stimulus money spent, and the jobs bills created, and the bullsh-t rehtoric from the liberal socialists in Washington are really paying dividends. This is old, but. HOW IS THAT HOPEY AND CHANGEY THING WORKING OUT FOR YOU DUMBA-S LIBERAL SOCIALISTS NOW??
But maybe that commenter isn't totally off the mark. The fact that Obama managed to spend a trillion dollars without even putting a dent in foreclosures is pretty shameful. Maybe this is just showing that Capitalism is so terrible that not even a trillion dollars can save us from its collapse.

A little fun fact, Banks currently own more houses than people do. The wonderful thing is that since the "financial reform" bill passed, when the economy goes into a free fall again it'll be blamed on too much regulation.

I'm still not sure and don't fully understand why it's better for a bank to let a house go into foreclosure rather than attempt a short sale or a loan modification. There's some banks that are doing the short sale or modifications. Then again, when that stuff eventually makes its way back to the balance sheet, huge losses are going to be posted and we have liquidity crisis round 2.

I read some piece but couldn't find it that banks were paying foreclosed home owners to leave without damaging the property. That's pretty hard core when you have to pay off the people who couldn't pay back their loan to leave without being spiteful.

If you want to see a prime example on how society has gone to shit and the good ol' days are behind us, here's a little tidbit of the good ol' days
The Great Depression plus harsh drought conditions were hard on farmers in the 1920s and early 1930s. Many could not make enough money to pay the mortgage. As a result, banks would foreclose on the property. They would then sell the farms at public auctions.

Farmers resented the foreclosures. When they would hear about an upcoming auction, they would gather on the day of the auction and make it clear to officials and potential bidders that bids from outside the farm community were not welcome.

"When the bidding commenced, someone in the crowd would start it off at fifteen cents or so, and it rarely got beyond a few dollars before the bidding stopped and the auctioneer would close the sale. If anyone in the farmyard might be so ignorant of what was going on as to put in a serious bid, a suitably burly man would be likely to step up and put a hand on his shoulder with the words, 'That bid's a little high, ain't it?'"
But you know what? Nothing like that will ever happen again, EVER! Besides that, you're probably better off burning down the house. It gets you in the news at worst. I would toss out the idea of burning down the bank itself, but that gets you tossed in jail.

2008 foreclosures

So perhaps that should teach all of you who are constantly told that you should buy a house to NOT make that fool's errand. At work I constantly hear people suggest other folks that they should buy a house. It's like a misery loves company sort of thing.

Yeah... buy a house, it's a great thing to incur a mother load of expenses, root yourself to one place for years on end, and submit yourself to indentured servitude for decades. Besides that, American homes are built like total shit and everything they're constructed of is made out of flammable cancer.

2009 foreclosures

Besides that, a single family living in one home is a relatively new phenomenon anyway. You'd have to be the world's dumbest moron to buy a house. The whole idea that renting is throwing money away shouldn't even enter your mind. Guess what, you're still going to be spending money regardless if you rent or buy. At the end of the day if you can't afford your mortgage, you'll be left with the same thing you would have by renting... Nothing.

And the idea that it can only go up in value has been disproved over the last few years with the prices of homes dipping at below what they were bought for at the peak of the bubble. Perhaps buying a condo in the city is a better investment. Then you can just rent it out if you want to move somewhere else. The city isn't going to move away and will still remain a hot spot.

2010 foreclosures

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with buying a house if you can afford it and you're where you want to be and have a family and such, but trying to force some sort of hollow stability on society by encouraging home ownership for everyone is pretty clearly complete shit.

The worse place for all this shit is Las Vegas. I wonder if Las Vegas home prices drop include its quasi-suburb Henderson. I remember hearing during my last outing there that condos were going for one-quarter their asking price three years ago. That's not even factoring in all the foreclosures sales.

But then again, Vegas is the worst possible town for home ownership. If you take any given city and make it worse, eventually you'll get something that looks like Vegas. But at least Vegas has reasons for existence. Henderson is a total shit hole because its population almost ripled in the periods between 1980-1990 and 90-2000. Then it went from 175,000 to 265,000 in 2009. This despite being a sprawly, sun-blasted desert shitland with no manufacturing or industry or economic base outside of the housing bubble itself.

If the 265,000 people who live in Henderson disappeared tonight, not a single soul would notice their absence. You might as well go outside and salt the fuck out of the yard there. No one's going to give a shit.

Everyone likes to compare America to the Roman Empire because of wars and military largess, but the consolidation of land by the aristocracy and the latinfundia system is a much more apt. comparison.

Living Without A HomePage

Living Without A HomePage

Over the weekend I passed through San Francisco. It's a strange place. Well, a strange place with good Clam Chowder and an amazing Chinatown. As well as any other strange fact you can bring about how progressively forward a place is that charges you $6 to get in via the Golden (actually red/orange) Bridge, you have to give it credit for being unique. I mean, where else can you be On the Street and On Facebook: The Homless Stay Wired
SAN FRANCISCO -- Like most San Franciscans, Charles Pitts is wired. Mr. Pitts, who is 37 years old, has accounts on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. He runs an Internet forum on Yahoo, reads news online and keeps in touch with friends via email. The tough part is managing this digital lifestyle from his residence under a highway bridge.

"You don't need a TV. You don't need a radio. You don't even need a newspaper," says Mr. Pitts, an aspiring poet in a purple cap and yellow fleece jacket, who says he has been homeless for two years. "But you need the Internet."

Mr. Pitts's experience shows how deeply computers and the Internet have permeated society. A few years ago, some people were worrying that a "digital divide" would separate technology haves and have-nots. The poorest lack the means to buy computers and Web access. Still, in America today, even people without street addresses feel compelled to have Internet addresses.
I'm a little confused by this news piece. I mean, since when did we worry about the homeless in this country? I kid, I kid. You know me. I love the homeless. Who else can you hear crazy stories from and not have to care after talking to them?

But more so than anything else, I'm not sure what to take from that. See, this blogger is at a loss on this issue. Can someone please interpret this news piece. Is it:

1) homeless people have computers so we don't need to worry about social programs
2) computers are everywhere
3) ha ha San Francisco is so progressive
4) touching human interest story

bonus question's:
5) how do you think web 2.0 affects homeless? who is your favorite homeless tweeter?
I'm leaning towards this one from a Poet named Charles
6) how many of you are homeless in San Francisco right now???

I know what you're telling yourself. This dude doesn't sound very homeless. I don't think you people understand how much it costs to live in San Francisco. Then again it seems like there's different levels of homeless and some of these must simply be kinda homeless.

I guess this goes to show you that a notebook and internet access are everything one needs to bootstrap oneself. Just learn to program or web design, maybe take up journalism blogging, and even a homeless person can have a revenue source. I guess no one told you Marxist that the concentration of the means of production isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Then again, they're more than likely setting up craigslist ads like the following:

Missed connections>california>los angeles>skid row
saw you sleepin by the shelter on third street, got a cardboard hut and i need someone to suck the stink off my dick, must love dogs.

I'll move to a heart warming story: I was walking up market st and there was an old woman pushing a shopping cart filled with paper bags. as I was walking behind her I noticed she was stopping at every homeless person she passed and handing them the bags which were filled with sandwiches and chips. Sure, it's not an internet connection, but it's a start.

But forget the homeless, if you are ever in Berkeley and run into one of these people you should avoid conversations with them.

Now that's a person who shouldn't be on the internet at all.

God Damn It America! February Edition

God Damn It America! February Edition

It hasn't been more than a couple of days since I last said it but I'm finding the need to say it again.... GOD DAMN IT AMERICA! Yes, that's right. I'm doing a February edition of this segment because I really have to say it again! GOD DAMN IT AMERICA!

Detroit is a pretty shitty place. But I didn't think it was as bad as it really is. A place that it takes THREE police calls to get them to come down to find a dead body.

DETROIT - In an abandoned warehouse, the image was stark and shocking: two denim-clad, lifeless legs poking up through trash-choked ice.

Investigators who took three emergency calls over two days before finally going out to retrieve the body will now try to figure out what killed the man, but this much is clear — it's become another symbol of Detroit's decay and indifference.

"Most of us grew up with this," said Mike Corbin, 34, pointing toward the old warehouse and brooding, dilapidated Michigan Central train depot nearby. "It's depressing. Chicago and New York have their own problems, but those are in certain areas. But in Detroit, it's the entire city."

Investigators are looking into reports that a group of urban adventurers who get their kicks exploring Detroit's crumbling buildings and at least one homeless man had seen the man's body, but didn't call police.

Detroit is a tough town, often described as gritty, hard-knuckled, a survivor. Its post-World War II population soared to more than 1.8 million. Many of the 900,000 people who now call it home lived through Detroit's days as the country's "murder capital" when more than 700 people were slain in 1974.

Then again, they are a little busy.

On the radio yesterday there was an interview with the journalist who called this in to the cops. He said he had to call 911 twice before they'd even show, and when he talked to the people who initially found the corpse they told him it had been there for over a month. The reporter wanted to see if he could get the corpse identified and maybe give this guy's family a bit of closure. So it had to be a lot of calls.

How apathetic can you be when you just let a dead body sit there for a month? I've done my fair share of urban exploration but these guys just give us a bad name. You don't steal from the location but you sure as hell report a dead stiff. Have some fucking respect.

Dead by cold is not something fun. And he isn't the only one dying of cold here. A 93 year old in Michigan dies after he can't pay his heat bill.
Officials in Mid-Michigan said the 93-year-old man who owed more than $1,000 in unpaid electric bills froze to death inside his home -- where the municipal power company had restricted his use of electricity.Neighbors and friends of Schur want answers as to how this could happen.“Now that we do know it was hypothermia, there’s a whole bunch of feelings that I’ve got going through me,” said Jim Herndon, a neighbor of Schur’s. “There’s anger, for the city and the electrical company.”Bay City officials said changes are on the way in an attempt to not let another instance like this happen again.
Forget health care.. Well, not forget it. He's a Vet, he could go down to the shitty V.A. but there's no reason why the electric company should be able to cut someone off during the winter. In most places the utility companies are not allowed to cut off service during the winter, no matter how far behind you are. I thought that was the case everywhere. Fucking makes me sick. God damn it America! This is cruel, and reading that his death was severely painful boils me over with rage.
Then we have this Google street view of Rapid City, South Dakota

Stay classy, America. Can someone tell me if this is offensive or not? I don't fucking know anymore.

I know we live in a Capitalistic society and all, but I'm a bit tired of all these Obama related crap being sold. I'm pretty glad that the White House lawyers are starting to go after people selling shit like this.

But it doesn't end there. Seems that you people have pretty much pissed off our first black president with all your over use of his image!

Jan. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Barack Obama’s popularity makes him a marketer’s dream. Now, the honeymoon may be over for those trying to profit from his appeal.
White House lawyers want to control the use of the president’s image, recognizing the worldwide fascination about Obama’s election, First Amendment free-speech rights and easy access to videos and photos on the Web.

“Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.
I think he has a reason to be a little peeved by all this. If everyone started making a buck from my likeness and I wasn't getting a plum cent, I'd be pissed also. You people made dolls out of his kids.

He's the president of the free world, I'm sure he doesn't want dolls of his kids made that come with boobs! Come on, America. Get your shit together.

God Damn It America!

God Damn It America!

I want to be proud of this country. I really want to. But when I see things like this in my face I really can't help but just close my eyes, put my hand on my forehead and shake my head. Seriously Let's take two stories:

A homeless man robbed a Louisiana bank and took a $100 bill. After feeling remorseful, he surrendered to police the next day. The judge sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Roy Brown, 54, robbed the Capital One bank in Shreveport, Louisiana in December 2007. He approached the teller with one of his hands under his jacket and told her that it was a robbery.

The teller handed Brown three stacks of bill but he only took a single $100 bill and returned the remaining money back to her. He said that he was homeless and hungry and left the bank.

The next day he surrendered to the police voluntarily and told them that his mother didn’t raise him that way.

Brown told the police he needed the money to stay at the detox center and had no other place to stay and was hungry.

In Caddo District Court, he pleaded guilty. The judge sentenced him to 15 years in prison for first degree robbery.
Let that soak in. Just let it soak in. Now compare it with this story...

AIG executive sentenced to 4 years in prison after "stealing" $500 million

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A former executive of insurance heavyweight American International Group Inc. was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday in a fraud case that authorities say cost shareholders more than $500 million.

Christian Milton of Wynnewood, Pa., declined to comment during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Hartford. Judge Christopher Droney also fined Milton $200,000 and ordered him to report to the federal Bureau of Prisons on March 25.

Lawyers for Milton said they are preparing an appeal.

Am I just too liberal? Am I the only one who realizes that one did far worse damage the than other but is getting a slap on the wrist? Shit. Less than a week ago someone told me they had a gun when they really didn't. I was a victim of a crime and I'm sympathetic to the homeless dude here who claimed to have a gun.

As far as I'm concerned I'm wondering how $500,000,000 fraud only nets you 4 years. Well, then again, we did just go through eight years of the Bush administration. I really should be surprised that someone who just stole $500 million even got jail time at all. Was Dick Cheney getting another fake heart when this AIG fuck went to ask for a pardon?

Click this image. I fucking dare you! Click it and see if your brain doesn't explode!

I know what you're thinking. When passing his sentence, the judge probably gave a lot of weight to the lack of violence and past record for the AIG asshole. Or the fact he hired a lawyer and the hobo had a court appointed one, if one at all.

You can make the argument that the same laws are written for rich and poor people, but you'd have to be blind to think the same laws actually apply. But hey, he said he was homeless and hungry, the nice judge was just giving him a place to sleep and eat for the next 12 years with good behavior. You know, to get him back on his feet...

As the youtube video above shows us from a Lewis Black teaches, there is levels of insanity that the filthy rich are miles ahead in the batshit crazy department than any homeless guy rambling on the street can ever hope and dream to achieve. When you factor in how fuck utterly insanely greedy you have to be to defraud others of $500 million. And then you factor in how much this one homeless guy, who had some moral obligation to go back the next day and give back the $100, Shit, if he was tried under the Federal court like Mr. AIG was, he'd be only up for, at most, one year in prison. federal bank robbery statute:
Subsection (b) outlines the penalties for anyone who takes and carries away, with the intent to steal or purloin, any property or money or any thing of value in the care, custody, control, management, or possession of any bank, credit union, or savings and loan. The maximum penalty for violation of this subsection is a fine and ten years imprisonment if the value of the property exceeds $100. The maximum penalty is a fine and one year imprisonment if the property's value is $100 or less.
There's so much proof showing that the homeless dude was clearly more sane and more deserving of my sympathy than the AIG douche bag. No matter what stigma is represented by crazed homeless dudes. Then again, there's those who are simply batshit insane like this Defendant who Smeared Feces on His Lawyer's Face and then Throws It at Jurors

Remind me make an excuse to not do jury duty next time I'm summoned.
