Awesome Cameos And Lesser Known Appearences

Awesome Cameos And Lesser Known Appearances

You're not always famous in this town. To get your union card you're going to do a lot of background artist work. Many times you'll get that one line or that stand-in role that will get you the $50-80 dollar pay day. Every sometime you'll see an old movie and catch a glimpse of a famous actor when they were only playing a bit part. This is the post where we point someone.

Did you know Zac Efron was in Firefly? He played a young Simon in a flashback.

And speaking of Firefly, Nathan Fillon was in Saving Private Ryan. He was the first Pvt. James Ryan they met, the one who cried like a little bitch.

And speaking of Saving Private Ryan, this contemptuous, lazy, fatfuck was played by Paul Giamatti.

On the subject of war movies, Lawrence Fishburne said he was 16 to star in Apocalypse Now. He was 14.

And Harrison Ford played Colonel Lucas.

Some warrior princess was thinking that Spider-man was pretty hot with all six legs and arms.

1965. The great San Fransisco acid wave. I recall one night in a place called The Matrix. There i was... Mother of God, there i am!

Frodo is the little kid who makes fun of the arcade game in Back To The Future 2.

Who is this strapping young elf from Lord of the Rings?

Why, it's one of the two members of New Zealand's third most popular band, Flight of the conchords!

Hugh Laurie as "A guy on the plane" in Friends.

I guess I would be addicted to vicodin also if I had to deal with that on a plane.

Lost In TransLAtion

Lost In TransLAtion

When I first saw the movie Lost In Translation I loved it. Sophia Coppela once again redeemed herself for her bad acting in the Godfather III. Then again, she got shot in that so that's punishment in itself. Virgin Suicide was also really good and highlighted Kristen Dunst actually looking really good.

Back to Lost In Translation, I later picked up the DVD of it and watched it again and I have to say I didn't like it as much. Something was indeed lost in translation between the movie theater and the dvd release. The scale and scope of the film. On the big screen you were lost in this sea of colors. The Japanese background and the hotel acted as a character in themselves.

These two characters were surrounded by massive amounts of people and yet were still alone together. Isolated and discovering this new place together. That's one of the best things about the film. So when I hear that Sophia Coppela is going to make a movie about LA based on the Chatea Marmont Hotel my interest was peaked.

The writer-director who shot her "Lost in Translation" at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo, practically making a character out of the antiseptic structure, will set her next film at the iconic Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.

Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning will star in the Focus Features dramedy "Somewhere," which Coppola penned.

Story centers on a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life of excess at the Chateau Marmont. With an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter, he is forced to reexamine his life.

This is the place that all the big listers partied at and OD on whatever they are taking. The fame last location where John Belushi stayed. I hear you can still hear him call up for Dan Akroyd so that they can make that Blues Brothers sequel. Either that or he's haunting the place because he did see the Blues Brothers sequel.

The place is nice. I have to admit that I've come here on a couple of instances just to look at the place. Never actually stayed there. Then again, I often avoid the sunset strip. It's not that it's a bad place, it's just not my scene. I'm not Rodney on the Roq or anything. The streets get way too crowded on most nights and it's just a nightmare to navigate. Not to mention the general over pricing of just about anything there. No thank you.

I can't remember what hidden character the virgin suicides had. Who cares, it had a really hot Kristen Dunst. Nuff said, right? Add in that it had an amazing soundtrack by Air and you have yourself a winner in my book.

Even though I have very little love for the sunset strip, I'm still looking forward to it. Maybe then I could wash away the bad taste I have for it with Mayor of the Sunset strip. God, Rodney on the Roq thinks he's god's gift to music fans or something. F' that dude and his Sunday relic of a show.

But more than that, I think I like Sophia more than I give her credit for. I think it's a love/hate relationship without all that much hate. Maybe I'm just siding with her since her marriage with Spike Jonze went south. I mean, as much as I love the man, Where the Wild Things Are just seems like something I can't understand how you can make a movie out of.

So here's for me getting lost in the translation of my own blog.
